The newly released RBC dining offers give targeted RBC Avion cardholders the chance to earn either a statement credit or bonus Avion points on restaurant spending. These are targeted via email for the RBC Avion Visa Infinite and RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege cards.

All the offers expire next Friday, June 19. Make sure to load the offer from the email before making the spend.

Offer 1: Spend $25, Get $25

If you’re lucky enough to receive the “Spend $25, Get $25” offer, there’s really no reason not to take advantage. You don’t need to spend an extra dollar out of pocket to maximize the value.

Offer 2: Spend $75, Get 3,500 Avion points

This is the second-most generous version of RBC’s offers, as I value Avion points at 2¢ each, so it is worth $70 to me. Technically, you’re earning more than $25 in value, but this one requires spending $75, which is more than you’re earning.

To fully take advantage of this offer, there is more “out-of-pocket” expense.

Offer 3: Spend $75, Get $25

Among the three, this is the lowest-value offer, but it’s still worth taking advantage of. Assuming you’re dining out before June 19 and spending $75 after tax and tip, this is still an easy $25 in free cash.

Creative Ways to Take Advantage

These offers are targeted, so you may receive a different version of the promotion—or not receive one at all. In my household, all three of us received an offer: two people received 3,500 points, while one person received a $25 statement credit after spending $75.

The “Spend $25, Get $25” offer appears to be significantly rarer than the other versions, which makes sense given that it delivers the most value. However, all three offers are pretty good, and I’d take advantage of any of the three.

Any purchase coded as restaurant will qualify for this offer, including loading your Starbucks card. Admittedly, that is what I’m doing, and if you are as well, make sure to stack your Starbucks Stars and Aeroplan points-earning.

For most people, I imagine this will be easy to take advantage of anyway, but you can always consider buying a restaurant gift card. It’s best to process in-store, if possible, to ensure it codes as dining.

Takeaway

RBC doesn’t run dining offers like these very often, and all three versions represent easy value if you were already planning to eat out before June 19. The “Spend $25, Get $25” offer is the clear winner, but I’d happily take advantage of any of the three.

Before heading out, check your email, load the offer to your card, and make sure your purchase codes as dining. Whether that’s dinner at a restaurant, loading your Starbucks card, or buying a restaurant gift card, there’s an easy opportunity here to pick up some extra cash or Avion points.
