Trust Aeroplan to continue to wow its membership. The latest offer is just that, a chance for members to turbo charge their status qualification with Aeroplan Premium credit cards. With this offer, Premium cardholders will be able to earn, step up a tier in 2022, or get ahead on their elite status for 2023. As a reminder, earlier in the year, Aeroplan Elite Status members had their status extended until the end of 2022.

Here is the list of Aeroplan Premium tier credit cards that are eligible for this offer;

Aeroplan Elite Status Offer

Unbox Aeroplan Elite Status or a Status Tier Bump

With one of these cards, the offer is pretty straightforward;

For Existing Premium Cardholders:

  1. Register for this special offer
  2. Spend $10,000 on the eligible card between applicable dates*, and earn the following;
    • Achieve 25K Elite Status, OR;
    • Step up a Tier: Aeroplan 25K ⇒ 35K ⇒ 50K ⇒ 75K ⇒ Super Elite
    • Existing Super Elite members will earn the following towards their 2023 status
      • 25,000 Bonus Status Qualifying Miles
      • 25 Bonus Status Qualifying Segments, and
      • 3,000 Bonus Status Qualifying Dollars

*Note: If you acquired your card between January 1 and July 11, 2021, you have between July 1 and November 30, 2021, to spend $10,000.  If you acquired your card before January 1, 2021, you have between July 1 and October 15, 2021 to spend $10,000.

The applicable dates for the $10,000 spend are as follows;

For New Premium Cardmembers:

For members that acquire the card starting July 12, 2021, there are subtle differences in the offer. Specifically, the highest status bump one can obtain is 75k. Existing 75k and Super Elite members will earn status qualifying elements for 2023;

  1. Register for this special offer
  2. Spend $10,000 on the eligible card between applicable dates*, and earn the following;
    • Achieve 25K Elite Status, OR;
    • Step up a Tier: Aeroplan 25K ⇒ 35K ⇒ 50K ⇒ 75K
    • Existing 75k, and Super Elite members will earn the following towards their 2023 status
      • 25,000 Bonus Status Qualifying Miles
      • 25 Bonus Status Qualifying Segments, and
      • 3,000 Bonus Status Qualifying Dollars

*Note: If you acquire your card starting July 12, 2021, you have between July 12 and October 31, 2021, to spend $10,000.

Take Away

An interesting exclusion to the otherwise very generous offer is that TD and CIBC offers are not available to Quebec residents. This leaves our friends in Quebec with only Amex premium Aeroplan cards to qualify or tier-up their elite status with Aeroplan.

The sweet-spot of this promotion will definitely be those that will now be able to move from 35K ⇒ 50K, and enjoy the benefits of a Gold Member (worldwide lounge access, full suite of airport priority services) across the Star Alliance network. The other group that can see a significant bump in their membership experience are the ones that can unlock the bump from 75K ⇒ Super Elite.

Personally, as an existing Super Elite member, I am excited at the prospect of starting my 2023 status journey with a significant bump to the Status Qualifying elements, through this generous offer by Air Canada.

Hi there – do we know when the status upgrade will take place? I signed up right when it came out and am currently at 75K. I am counting on this for super elite status by year end!

Hi Ryan – while I can’t be 100% sure, my guess is that all status related updates should be reflected in the next couple of weeks. AP program is now on a calendar year, so it should all settle up in the new year.
