ITC hotels, Starwood partners in India are running a great 3rd Night Free promotion for stays until the end of September, 2016. ITC hotels are a chain of over 100  luxury properties in India that specialize in authentic and opulent regional hospitality. If you are a Starwood fan, it’s hard to go wrong with ITC hotels.

3rd Night Free Promotion and Stack

ITC Promotion can be stacked with SPG Triple Up to accelerate Starpoints earning. Although the 3rd Night Free offer runs till September 30th, in order to stack with SPG promotion the booking has to be before 31st July. Note that 3rd Night Free can only be booked via ITC’s website and does not work on SPG website.

Once I clicked through the city of choice the page updated with sort-able options of 3rd Night Free, Free Hotel Credit and Featured Offers.  3rd Night Free by far offered the best value and came with Breakfast included for 2 adults and up to 2 children. Other price points with 3rd night free included ‘Culinary Break’, ‘SPA Break’ and ‘EVA Break’ and came with corresponding inclusions.

I picked New Delhi ITC Maurya Hotel, chose July dates and proceeded to confirm rates. I had to scroll down and look for ‘Special Offer’, 3rd Night Free, which was highlighted in yellow and made it easy to scan and pick.

ITC special rate INR 7333 per night

SPG delhi July rates

spg.com prepaid rate INR 9892 (promo does not work)

When confirming booking details, I noticed that Starwood Preferred Guest earning option was listed under the ‘Airline’ drop-down menu (for some odd reason).

Delhi July rates

INR 22,000 (3 nts) = $333 USD!

Starpoints Earn

With SPG Gold, my Starpoints earn for this Delhi – ITC Maurya visit would look like this;

Room Rate: $333 x 3 = 999 points
2X SPG Promo: 999 points
SPG Weekend Bonus: 1000 points
Make a Green Choice: 1000 points
Elite Welcome Bonus: 250 points

Total: 4248 Starpoints

Takeaway:

Its hard to beat the value proposition when you stack the offers. Even if your stay is past July, the 3rd Night Free brings a tremendous cash saving proposition. Add to it the favorable conversion rate and these hotel rates are a steal for cities where prices can hover around $200 USD/nt.

Will you be taking advantage of this offer?

Does the third night count towards elite qualifying? I got burned by Hyatt last year on that one. I might try and use this for my trip in September. I find SPG the best for stackable points.

Ooh, great question – Normally a 3rd night free certificate booking does not count as a qualifying night. In my experience, rates adjusted over 3 nights (INR 11000/nit for 2 nts vs INR 7333/nt for 3 nts) should still count as 3 nights towards status. Depends on how they bill this promotion. I have asked SPG for a clarification and will post it as soon as I hear back from them – their twitter team is “looking into it” 🙂

SPG’s reply to this promo: “Thank you for your patience we have researched this for you and have found out that the 3rd free night would not count towards an elite qualifying night. If you have any other queries or concerns please do not hesitate to reach us. We’re here to help 24/7.”
