If you are a points and miles enthusiast, it’s unlikely that you do not know about Avianca airlines’ loyalty program, LifeMiles. Avianca airlines is a Star Alliance member and the LifeMiles program does not impose any fuel surcharges on award redemptions (not even on Lufthansa and Air Canada 🙂 ). It also allows mixed cabin award itineraries with lucrative redemption rates – Reasons why LifeMiles (LM) is my primary currency for premium redemptions within the Star Alliance network. Avianca airlines also offers Avianca LifeMiles credit cards in US, issued by Puerto Rico’s Banco Popular, and these cards offer impressive perks.

TAKE AWAY
As a Canadian resident, I personally do not have the card but convinced my family in the US to get one 🙂 . I have used the card to purchase LM when available on discount. Looking forward to using the 50% discount later this year. Obviously, I am a big fan of LifeMiles loyalty program and use it regularly for premium redemptions on Star Alliance network. If you are the same, I would highly recommend considering the perks on Vuela card for future LM redemptions. The 50% discount on award tickets (2 with $24000 annual spend) by itself is a strong incentive.
