Aeroplan has added airBaltic as a new airline partner, expanding redemption options across Europe and select destinations beyond the continent. With this partnership, Aeroplan members can now redeem points on airBaltic-operated flights in Europe and the Middle East. This is a redemption-only partnership for now.

Aeroplan and airBaltic partnership

At launch, Aeroplan points cannot be earned on paid flights with airBaltic. This partnership is currently focused on redemption opportunities. This is consistent with how Aeroplan has initially rolled out some partner relationships in the past, though it’s always possible that earning options could be added later. For members who prioritize earning points and status, airBaltic flights will function strictly as redemption segments rather than SQC earning flights.

Aeroplan members can redeem points on airBaltic flights through all standard Aeroplan booking channels, including online at aircanada.com, via the Air Canada mobile app, or through the Aeroplan Contact Centre.

Flights operated by airBaltic can be booked as standalone reward flights or combined with flights on Air Canada or any other Aeroplan airline partner on a single itinerary. As with other non–Air Canada partners, the Aeroplan partner booking fee applies when a reward itinerary includes airBaltic-operated segments.

From its primary hub in Riga, airBaltic links to more than 80 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus.

All the airBaltic routes shown above fall under the ‘Atlantic Zone’ of the Aeroplan flight reward chart, where the redemption rate can be as low as 7500 miles for routes under 1000 miles.

The airline operates a single-type fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with 51 A220-300s currently in service and plans to grow to 100 A220-300s by 2030. In 2025, airBaltic became the first European airline to introduce free, high-speed onboard internet using SpaceX Starlink across its fleet.

Takeaway

The new Aeroplan and airBaltic partnership is a functional addition to Aeroplan’s airline roster. It doesn’t introduce new premium cabins or earning opportunities, but it does expand where and how Aeroplan points can be used across Europe. For members planning complex European itineraries or looking to reach the Baltics with fewer workarounds, airBaltic is now another valuable tool in the Aeroplan redemption toolbox.
