Aeroplan Points Matching Week: Support Children’s Medical Travel Needs

Until October 11, 2026 (3 days from today), Aeroplan and its partners are matching points donations to Air Canada Foundation’s Hospital Transportation Program.  Points donated to the Air Canada Foundation are distributed to pediatric hospitals across Canada.

The program has a meaningful impact: 35 million points donated in 2025 provided 605 flights for nearly 500 families.

Many of us have the ultimate privilege of being points-rich, so we’ve donated 50,000 Aeroplan points to get the ball rolling. We hope PMB readers will consider using some of their points towards this meaningful cause, and no amount is too small.

Air Canada Foundation – Hospital Transportation Program

Created in 2003, the Hospital Transportation Program helps connect children to the medical care they need away from home by redistributing Aeroplan points to 15 pediatric hospitals across Canada. With your contribution, young patients and accompanying parents can access medical care not offered in their community.

The program works to support the following 15 pediatric hospitals across Canada:

• Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (SK)
• HSC Children’s Hospital (MB)

• The Janeway Children’s Hospital (NL)

The Air Canada Foundation also runs other fundraising activities like Every Bit Counts with donations collected onboard and in Maple Leaf Lounges.

During Points Matching Week, which runs until October 11, 2026, every Aeroplan point you donate will be matched by Aeroplan and its partners up to 10 million points.

Returning partners include TD, CIBC, and American Express and new partners this year include Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty. 100% of your donated Aeroplan points will go directly to the Hospital Transportation Program.

Sylas’s Story with Hospital Transportation Program

As part of this year’s announcement, Air Canada shared Sylas’s story, which is meaningful and worth sharing with the PMB audience.

Sylas had a biking accident at age 13 that warranted specialized treatment only available at the BC Children’s Hospital, which was a 12-hour drive from his home in Cranbrook. With many hospital visits for surgeries, scans, and ongoing treatments, the Air Canada Foundation covered the family’s flights each visit.

Now, Sylas is 15 and works at a local golf course in Kimberley and fully back to taking advantage of the outdoors with mountain biking, camping, and water activities. He’s the 2026 Air Canada Foundation National Hospital Transportation Program Ambassador.

Takeaway

Aeroplan points can take us around the world, but they can also make a meaningful difference much closer to home. The Air Canada Foundation’s Hospital Transportation Program helps families access medical care for their children without the added financial burden of travelling, and Sylas’s story is a great example of the impact these donations can have.
