Air Canada has expanded its in-flight entertainment offerings by introducing three new Live TV sports channels. The addition comes beautifully timed for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, enhancing the viewing options for sports fans on select flights. The newly included channels are Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet East, both available now, and TVA Sports, which will be accessible starting in May. This update marks Air Canada as the only Canadian airline that provides live TV featuring the Stanley Cup playoffs onboard.

The airline’s Live TV service operates through a satellite-connected system that broadcasts directly to passengers’ seat-back screens. This feature is currently available on various domestic and transborder routes. Air Canada’s fleet that supports this service includes specific models like the Boeing 777, Boeing 787, Airbus A330, Airbus A321 (featuring new cabins), and Airbus A220. Each of these aircraft types is equipped to offer this live broadcast capability. The initiative to include more sports content will enhance the travel experience by allowing passengers to follow their favourite hockey teams live while in flight.

As per the news release, the Live TV programming on Air Canada flights will now include the following;

  • Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet East – coverage of the NHL and Stanley Cup Playoffs, Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Raptors, as well as NBA, MLB, Grand Slam of Curling, and more (available only on domestic flights)
  • TVA Sports – French-language coverage of the NHL and Stanley Cup Playoffs, WTA, Blue Jays and MLB games, UFC, EURO 2024 and more (available on domestic and transborder flights)
  • TSN and RDS – live sports coverage of marquee sports events, including this summer’s UEFA EURO 2024 and CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™, as well as additional sports, including hockey, basketball, football, baseball, golf and tennis majors, auto racing, and more
  • CTV News Channel – Canada’s 24-hour all-news network
  • LCN – Quebec’s all-news station (available only on domestic flights)
  • BNN Bloomberg – Source for business news and live market coverage

Happy watching!
