Just in time for the holiday travel season, following the recent reopening of the Maple Leaf Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Air Canada has confirmed that the lounges at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) will reopen on December 18 and December 16, respectively.
Maple Leaf Lounge – Frankfurt Airport (FRA)
The Maple Leaf Lounge (MLL) at FRA is in Terminal 1, Concourse B (Level 3). During the renovation, Super Elite, Elite 75K, Elite 50K, Star Alliance Gold members, and Air Canada Business Class passengers were granted access to the Lufthansa Lounge near gates B43. However, that will no longer be required as the lounge reopens on December 18th.
The refurbished Maple Leaf Lounge at FRA features:
- All-new furniture and improved lighting
- Reconfigured seating options with an increase of 15 additional seats, bringing the total to 145
- A new business centre featuring communal tables with integrated lighting, power outlets, and privacy pods
Maple Leaf Lounge – London Heathrow Airport (LHR)
The Maple Leaf Lounge at LHR is in Terminal 2B – Queen’s Terminal, Level 1. The refreshed space introduces several enhancements:
- Art installations by Canadian artist Nicolas Ruel showcasing impressive large-scale photography prominently throughout the lounge
- Furniture upgrades and expanded seating capacity, adding 149 new seats
- Upgraded lighting with a Canadian accent across the lounge
Maple Leaf Lounge – Access and Eligibility
The Maple Leaf Lounges at FRA, LHR, and other locations are accessible to the following passengers:
- Aeroplan 50K, 75K, and Super Elite Status members
- Star Alliance Gold members
- Aeroplan premium co-brand cardholders
- Customers travelling in business class with Air Canada or another Star Alliance member airline.
- Eligible Chase Saphire Reserve cardmembers flying Air Canada or aother Star Alliance member airline.
Takeaway
Air Canada is upgrading its global lounge network as part of broader modernization and expansion efforts. The airline operates Maple Leaf Lounges in 19 airports worldwide. In addition to lounge refurbishments, Air Canada continues to make significant investments across its network, including expanding seating capacity in hub locations, introducing new menu offerings, and implementing eGates with digital identification technology to enable faster lounge entry processes.
In 2025 and 2026, we will continue to see several Maple Leaf Lounges reopen with refurbishments on a rotational basis. Canadian Maple Leaf lounge locations will also see upgrades shortly.

Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders cannot enter? Thought CSR could enter most Maple Leaf lounges, but I could be wrong.
