Air Canada announced significant updates to its Aeroplan reward chart, which were set to take effect on March 25, 2025—today! These changes now include an expanded reward chart for Air Canada flights and select partner airlines with new dynamic pricing. The dynamic reward charts have expanded to include United Airlines, Emirates, Flydubai, Etihad Airways, and Canadian regional airline partners Calm Air, Canadian North, and PAL (Provincial Airlines).

Air Canada and Select Partners Reward Chart

Instead of displaying reward amount ranges, the new chart now features a starting amount, which remains unchanged from previous values, and a Median amount based on historical redemptions with these airlines. The Median amounts are based on member redemptions with Air Canada and select partners from January 2024 through December 2024 and are only displayed where available for flights originating or ending in the North America zone.

Let’s examine the median amounts and compare them with actual Select Partners Reward search results.

Reflections and Takeaway

Starting with the good news, United availability at ‘saver rates’ or close to the median amounts was plentiful, especially in Economy Cabin. Business Class availability within North America was almost non-existent, but plenty going to Europe and beyond. United Polaris was easily the best value between North America and the Middle East (compared to rates on Etihad and Emirates) and often well below the Median amounts. For routes served by both United and Air Canada, especially within North America, Air Canada seems to prioritize redemption on their metal over United’s. I could not find any redemptions on United, such as YVR-LGA.

Canadian regional partners like Canadian North and PAL airlines had consistent availability but at much higher rates than before, ~40-50% higher than Median amounts.

As expected, the worst impact of the new dynamic Air Canada Select Partners Reward Chart was on Etihad Airlines, which is now aligned with Emirates redemptions on Aeroplan. Long-haul availability was consistently close to departure dates, and North America to Middle East routes consistently double the listed Median amount. But if you are a glass-full kind of reader, it’s great to see Etihad long-haul availability back on Aeroplan 🙂
