Air Canada has announced a significant upgrade to its in-flight menu offerings across all cabins, introducing over 100 new rotating seasonal recipes and a variety of snacks and beverages. This culinary upgrade aims to showcase Canadian cuisine through partnerships with renowned chefs David Hawksworth, Vikram Vij, and Jérôme Ferrer. A significant upgrade to the Air Canada menu is on its way to elevate the experience for all passengers, whether flying economy or enjoying the premium cabins.

New Air Canada Menu – Economy Cabin

Air Canada is updating its International Economy menu to include a variety of new dishes that introduce passengers to flavours from around the world. Options include red Thai chicken with rice and chicken cacciatore accompanied by roast potatoes and bell peppers. These new offerings complement existing options like Chef Ferrer’s pesto penne, available on flights from Canada. For breakfast on longer flights, passengers will now have the option of pancakes served with 100% pure Canadian maple syrup. Additionally, on routes departing from Europe, passengers will be introduced to Monty’s Bakehouse’s savoury pastries, featuring flavours like coconut chicken and potato sour cream and chive. The introduction of these dishes builds upon a selection of regional appetizers, including soba noodles, chaat, hummus with vegetables, and others, that have been recently made available across all international flights.

Air Canada is also enhancing its Bistro menu, which is set to become the most comprehensive buy-on-board menu offered by any North American airline by spring 2024. The updated menu will feature a variety of options, including a peppercorn roast beef sandwich, cheeseburger sliders, and new vegan choices like Mediterranean hummus wraps. Alongside these food options, the airline will offer an extensive selection of alcoholic beverages. This includes premium crafted and Canadian-owned Tequila Tromba, available in all markets, and Campari, which is provided in all premium cabins and through the Bistro service.

New Air Canada Menu – Premium Cabins

Passengers flying in Air Canada Signature Class can now access an expanded menu incorporating various international cuisines. The menu will include chicken thigh with mandi rice and Emirati bzar sauce, roasted salmon served with teriyaki sauce and Shandong noodles, and a Middle Eastern mezze plate as an appetizer. More menu additions are expected to be announced through spring 2024.

The airline will emphasize using fresh, locally sourced ingredients in its lounge and in-flight services. This includes reintroducing wild-caught Fogo Island cod in the Air Canada Signature Suite at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Air Canada has introduced new sparkling wine selections for those interested in beverages curated by sommelier Véronique Rivest. Options available on international flights include Haton Cuvée Classique and Duval-Leroy Brut Réserve. At the same time, Jaillance Brut Traditionnel, a Crémant de Bordeaux AOP, is offered on flights within North America and the Caribbean. Additionally, Montellier sparkling water from Quebec is now available in premium cabins, complementing the selection of 100% Canadian-grown and produced wines and spirits available onboard and in lounges.

Air Canada menu - Beverages

Air Canada will be the only airline in North America to offer fresh and hot meals on Business Class flights within the continent that are under two hours long. The updated menu for these flights will include light meals such as warm flatbread with arugula, chicken tenders with coleslaw, cobb salad, and enhanced charcuterie and cheese plates. The airline will continue to offer a full hot breakfast on morning flights, featuring popular items like a parsley omelet with chicken sausage and introducing new recipes, including clafoutis and pancakes served with 100% pure Canadian maple syrup.

New Air Canada Menu – Snacks and treats

Air Canada has updated its in-flight snack offerings to include new options catering to various dietary preferences and tastes. The airline’s snack selection has expanded to include several new items;

  • TWIGZ Buttery Herb & Garlic craft pretzels (now complimentary in all cabins on North America flights shorter than two hours and economy cabins on international flights)
  • Sweet Sixteen original candy mix from Quebec
  • Chomps grass-fed beef jerky
  • Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Squares with sea salt caramel filling

These new offerings will complement snack favourites such as Kit Kat, Miss Vickie’s chips, and Made Good granola bars. This diverse snack range will cater to passengers’ dietary needs and preferences in Air Canada Signature Class, Premium Economy, and on flights to and from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

New Air Canada Menu – Takeaway

This year, Air Canada will expand its popular pre-order meal service, rolling it out to include premium cabin services within North America. It will start with flights offering Signature Class and Premium Economy cabins. Later in 2024, the pre-order program will introduce options for customers in premium cabins to pre-select their second meal choice on international flights.

I am excited to see this comprehensive upgrade to the Air Canada menu. The airline is keen to set a new standard for in-flight dining, and I am here for it. The rollout of this ambitious revamp will be critical to the overall experience of all its passengers.
