Emirates is set to introduce its Airbus A350-900 to the Canadian market, beginning with Montreal Trudeau International Airport (YUL). The aircraft is scheduled to enter service on 1 February 2026, replacing the Boeing 777-200LR currently operating the daily Dubai (DXB)–Montreal route (flight review). This will be the airline’s first A350 deployment to the Americas, and it coincides with the launch of Emirates Premium Economy in Canada. With a 12+ hour flight time, DXB to YUL will become the longest route on the new EK A350 aircraft.

The A350 will feature three cabin configurations, with 32 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout, 28 Premium Economy seats, and 238 Economy seats. No First Class. The Montreal to Dubai route will benefit from the carrier’s newest cabin products and design elements, along with enhanced comfort across all seating tiers. The premium cabin interior looks stunning, with soft cream leather seats and a wood-grain table. The introduction of Premium Economy brings an additional option that did not previously exist on this route, expanding the range of fares available for long-haul travel between Canada and the UAE.

The daily service will mirror its current schedule under flight numbers EK243 and EK244. The timings will support onward connections through the Emirates network in Dubai, particularly toward the Middle East, South Asia, Africa, and Australasia.

  • EK243: The flight departs Dubai at 02:45, arriving in Montréal at 07:35.
  • EK244: The flight departs Montréal at 10:40 and arrives in Dubai at 08:00 (next day).

Emirates A350 routes and Canadian presence

Emirates currently serves Canada from two airports, YUL and YYZ. With the A350 arriving in YUL, the Toronto route will continue to be operated with the Airbus A380 (First Class flight review), the airline’s flagship double-deck aircraft, with a First Class Cabin. The presence of two different wide-body products in Canada creates a split offering: YUL gets the newest product in the fleet, while Toronto continues to benefit from the A380’s capacity and amenities, including an onboard shower for First Class passengers.

Emirates also maintains an extensive codeshare partnership with Air Canada, which provides single-itinerary access beyond the two Canadian gateways to nearly 40 destinations throughout Canada and the U.S., allowing passengers to connect seamlessly through Montreal or Toronto.

Takeaway

The introduction of the A350 at Montreal diversifies travel options for both leisure and business passengers, with YUL receiving the airline’s newest long-haul aircraft and cabin class, and YYZ continuing with the A380 with First Class cabin. I expect Emirates to announce several more A350 routes across North America soon.
