Hyatt points purchase promotion is back, up to 40% bonus. Hyatt 40% bonus is available for purchases made between November 15th, 2017 to December 15th, 2017.
Hyatt 40% bonus on points purchase
As per usual, bonus is tiered – Purchase between 5,000 and 9,000 Bonus Points in a single transaction and receive 20% additional Bonus Points or purchase between 10,000 and 29,000 Bonus Points in a single transaction and receive 30% additional Bonus Points or purchase a minimum of 30,000 Bonus Points in a single transaction and receive 40% additional Bonus Points. Note that the yearly limit on purchased points per account is 55,000.
You can maximize the promotion by buying 55K (+22K Bonus) for $1320 USD, at 1.71 cpp. This is good value to top up your accounts for an upcoming stay or buy up to 77K points for a high end redemption.
Lower Category Redemption: Hyatt Regency Montreal is a Cat 2 redemption where a standard room is available for 8000 points (@ 1.71 cpp = ~$184 CAD) or 4000+$77 CAD (@ 1.71 cpp = ~$169 CAD). The retail price for the same room (refundable rate) is listed at $239 CAD. You are better off buying the points and using a cash+points rate, in this case a savings of ~30%.
*Quick Tip: Use Corp Code 51440 to search for Points+Cash rates*
Higher Category Redemption: Park Hyatt New York is a Cat 7 redemption where a standard room costs 30K points/night. 30K @ 1.71 cpp = $513 USD, whereas the retail price for the same room is listed at $1075 USD + Taxes (Nov 1st – Nov 2nd ). Purchasing Hyatt points with 40% bonus and redeeming with points in this case, yields a savings of ~48%!
Take Away
Hyatt 40% bonus on points purchase is as good a public offering I have seen this year, I would recommend buying with a specific use in mind. Especially if you want to redeem at lower category properties, there are some hidden gems in Cat 1-3 groups.
