Introduction and Booking
For a recent stay in Nashville, I opted to split my accommodation between two hotels located just minutes apart. My first stop was the Aloft Nashville West End, a 3-star Marriott property at 1719 West End Avenue, conveniently located across the street from the Conrad Hilton (Review), where I’d spend my last night.
The choice was primarily driven by a combination of a favourable cash rate and the opportunity to use my $ 35,000 free night certificate, which was nearing expiration. I stayed for a total of three nights—two paid and one using the certificate. The all-in cost came to $368. However, I had purchased Marriott gift cards at a 25% discount, effectively bringing the nightly cost down to $92. Additionally, Marriott was running a promotion offering 2,000 bonus points for paid stays of two nights or more, so I also earned over 7,500 points for this stay.

Check-in and Room Upgrade
The hotel is a 15-minute Uber ride from BNA airport and is located within a 20–30 minute walking distance to Broadway, where the city’s iconic bars and restaurants are concentrated. Ahead of my arrival, I messaged the property via the Marriott app and used a bit of “suite talking” to inquire about an upgrade. Thanks to Titanium Elite status, I was upgraded from a standard double room to a spacious Queen Suite, a 825 sq ft corner unit featuring a balcony and rooftop patio. The quirky name for this suite was ‘Queen Queen Sweet Suite‘ 🙂
Check-in was smooth and efficient. However, I’d later run into issues at check-out—more on that below.

The Queen Suite turned out to be one of the most unique upgrades I’ve received at a Marriott property. The room had two Queen beds, a sofa bed, a full-length mirror, a closet and a flat-screen TV. But what made it stand out was the separate game room that included a foosball table, a full-sized retro fridge, a microwave, another sofa bed, and a Ms. Pac-Man arcade machine.

The suite also included a walk-out rooftop patio with seating for six, accessible through sliding glass doors. There was also a separate entry into the game room via the patio. The view from up there was excellent.

The bathroom was functional, located to the left upon entry, and featured a modern shower but no tub. It would’ve been ideal to have a second bathroom, especially for larger groups, as the suite could easily sleep up to six people.

Marriott Aloft Nashville West End – F&B Options
As a Titanium member, I had the choice between bonus points or breakfast, and I chose the latter. The hotel serves breakfast at ‘Re:fuel’ by Aloft, located on the main floor. I sampled several items during my stay:

Breakfast menu

Waffles and Fruit, and Bagel with cream cheese

Egg and Chorizo wrap, and Bacon-Egg Sandwich
Overall, the breakfast options were solid and varied. The chef clearly puts effort into the menu, though the missing Nutella was a small but noticeable oversight.
Marriott Aloft Nashville West End – Other Amenities
The main floor serves as a multipurpose space. Near the reception desk, guests are greeted with complimentary popcorn and bottled water. There’s a lounge area with relaxed seating and a pool table, perfect for hanging out or working on a laptop.

The bar in the lounge area was well-stocked and had a good range of local beers and spirits. I even caught live music one evening, which added to the laid-back atmosphere.

Lobby Bar
A small retail section offered Aloft-branded souvenirs, including t-shirts, magnets, postcards, and keychains.
The fitness center, located around the corner from the dining area, was well-equipped with treadmills, ellipticals, a bike and free weights. It wasn’t massive, but more than sufficient for maintaining a routine. The gym is open 24 hours, which is always appreciated.

Upstairs, a beautiful staircase (lined with guitars) leads to the conference rooms and business station. The business area includes two computers, although I didn’t spot a printer. Public restrooms are available on both the main and second floors.

There’s also a rooftop patio on the 8th floor accessible to all guests, though it doesn’t have a bar or other amenities.

Takeaway
Overall, Marriott Aloft Nashville exceeded my expectations in a positive way. While it’s a 3-star property, the location, room size, and unique suite features (such as a personal game room and rooftop patio) made for a very enjoyable stay. It was great value, especially with discounted gift cards and use of a free night certificate.
Some notable shortcomings included only one bathroom in a suite that can accommodate six. The staff training at check-out was lacking as none of the front desk team knew how to process a Marriott gift card, despite my prior communication via chat.
While I give the room itself a 9/10, the checkout experience brought the overall rating down to a 7/10. If the staff had been better trained, especially on processing Marriott gift cards, this could have easily been a 9/10 stay.
That said, if you’re planning a group trip or bachelorette getaway in Nashville and want a budget-friendly property with character, this Aloft is worth considering. Just make sure you triple-confirm your payment method in advance, and again at check-in.
