Residence Inn Kuwait City: Booking
Situated on the Northern edge of the Arabian Peninsula is the small country of Kuwait – a modern metropolis full of skyscrapers and mosques. Though it is not known for being a tourist destination, it has become a popular hub for foreign commerce.
Since March 2023, I’ve visited the country four times, each stay only lasting for one or two nights. During my last two trips, I stayed at the Residence Inn Kuwait City – a Marriott property located in the heart of Kuwait City. With my Gold Elite status, I booked both of my stays through the Marriott Bonvoy iPhone app. My most recent booking included a Deluxe Studio, 1 King for one night with breakfast included, totalling 65.550 KWD ($307 CAD). In addition to this, the hotel offers a complimentary airport pick-up service, which I took advantage of during both of my visits.
Residence Inn Kuwait City: Arrival & Check-In
Two weeks ago, during my most recent visit to Kuwait, I arrived at Kuwait International Airport from Bahrain around 2:30 am. The immigration and baggage claim process was smooth and efficient, and soon, I spotted my driver holding a Residence Inn sign. He greeted me warmly, took care of my bags, and made sure I was comfortably connected to the car’s Wi-Fi for the short 20-minute ride to the hotel.
Upon arrival, I was met with a warm welcome from the hotel staff, who immediately took care of my luggage and escorted me to the lobby. I was pleasantly surprised when the front desk concierge greeted me by name and welcomed me back to the hotel. Check-in was quick and seamless, and I was handed my room key within minutes. To my surprise, my bags were already on the luggage cart, along with a package that had been delivered to me the day before. I truly appreciated their thoughtful preparation ahead of my arrival.
Another hotel staff member kindly escorted me to the elevators and assisted me to my room. I was deeply impressed by how efficiently and warmly the staff handled my middle-of-the-night arrival, making the entire process feel effortless and pleasant.
Residence Inn Kuwait City: Deluxe Studio, King
The Deluxe Studio, 1 King room on the ninth floor, was both simple and spacious, offering a perfect blend of comfort and practicality. It featured a well-equipped kitchenette, a cozy living area with a desk and TV, and a generously sized bathroom with all the essential amenities.
The bedroom offered a view primarily of the school across the street, with subtle glimpses of the ocean in the distance. The room may not have been luxurious or overly sophisticated, but it was clean and organized, and everything functioned perfectly. Ideal for both business travellers and tourists on a short visit.
Residence Inn Kuwait City: Food/Breakfast
The breakfast buffet was open until 11 am, which is much later than most hotel breakfasts. The food was good, offering a variety of standard options, such as eggs, yogurts, pastries, cereals and more. Behind the food display, the kitchen was in full swing, with chefs preparing more dishes. As I took my time filling my plate, one of the chefs struck up a friendly conversation, letting me know that he would happily prepare anything I desired. I reached for the last piece of Zaatar – a traditional Middle Eastern breakfast dish – but the chef insisted I wait, not wanting me to have one that had been sitting out for a few minutes. After a brief two-minute wait, he brought me a fresh batch and, as a thoughtful gesture, even packed some to go, ensuring I had it for the rest of the day.
As I ate my breakfast, one of the servers passed by and immediately recognized me from my previous visit. He greeted me with a warm smile, asked about my trip, and made sure I had everything I needed for my stay. His conversation felt heartfelt, not just a routine exchange, and it was clear he genuinely cared about my experience.
The breakfast food was decent, though nothing extraordinary. However, It was the attention to my needs and the thoughtful personal touches that left a lasting impression on me.
Residence Inn Kuwait City: Fitness Facilities
Staying consistent with a fitness routine while travelling can be a challenge, but the fitness facilities at Residence Inn make it much easier. The spacious gym is well-equipped with a wide range of cardio machines, free weights, and strength-training equipment—everything you need for a solid workout. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the gym, which exceeded my expectations.
Residence Inn Kuwait City: Takeaway
If I were to recommend a hotel in Kuwait, the Residence Inn would be at the top of my list. Though it’s not fancy nor luxurious, it’s peaceful, comfortable, and perfectly located, with exceptional service to match. What truly made both of my stays at the Residence Inn unforgettable was the outstanding hotel staff—the concierge, the chefs, the servers—all of whom went above and beyond to make me feel at home.
