I am a few days late for the promotion. On Oct 1, 2024, American Express Canada returned its popular “Shop Small” promotion, allowing cardmembers to earn statement credits when purchasing at select small businesses. The promotion allows you to spend $10 or more at any participating small business and receive $5 back in statement credits up to 10 times, for a potential $50 in total credits.
Amex Shop Small Canada – Spend $10, Get $5
To participate, you must register your eligible American Express card and use that same card for qualifying purchases until November 30, 2024. The purchase must be a minimum of $10 after taxes and take place at a participating small business listed in the Amex Maps and Online Merchant Directory.
The offer is limited to the first 50,000 card members who successfully register. Registration is straightforward: log into your American Express account, check the Offers section, and see if you’re eligible. After registration, the card must be used at participating small businesses. Not all American Express cards are eligible, and this is a targeted offer, meaning not all card members will receive the invitation to register. For example, I only received this offer on my American Express Aeroplan Reserve card.
During the offer period, you can earn a maximum of $50 in statement credits per registered card. Each statement credit will appear on your registered card account within 90 days after November 30, 2024. Remember that statement credits may be reversed if the purchase is returned or cancelled. Multiple transactions at the same merchant or location will only count once towards the credits, even if you visit them on separate occasions.
