We decided to celebrate the final days of the Hyatt Gold Passport program (and my Diamond status) with a stay-cation at Andaz in Ottawa, Canada. I was able to use the last of my diamond suite upgrade benefit at the property. Since I have reviewed this property (Presidential Suite) in detail earlier, I will simply highlight the awesome suite we were upgraded to. Andaz Ottawa is a category 3 property and costs 12,000 points or 6,000 + $75 USD. A points+cash booking and a quick call later, we were upgraded to the Andaz Ottawa Suite.

Andaz Ottawa Suite

The corner suite (Room 1415) on the 14th floor featured incredible views of the historic ByWard market, Canadian Parliament, Ottawa river and the Gatineau Hills!!

Mini Bar and snacks

A standard benefit of the Andaz is that all snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are complimentary (aka. included in room rate). The suite was no different, our fridge was stacked with beverages but I forgot to click pictures..

Welcome amenity and surprise

At check-in we chose ‘local wine and food credit’ as our welcome amenity. It credit included two glasses of wine and an appetizer (voucher) at the hotel restaurant, ‘feat+revel’.

The hotel (manager) went one step further, recognized us as returning customers and send a full bottle of wine and a charcuterie board!! A lovely gesture that spoke volumes about the customer service on hand.

Breakfast

Breakfast was complementary as a diamond member and served in the hotel restaurant. The timings are incredibly generous with weekend breakfast from 6:30am – 1:00pm!! My partner is vegan and the restaurant was more than happy to oblige our special requests. The service was relaxed and extremely impressive.

Take Away

The only Andaz property in Canada, Andaz Ottawa definitely punches above its category and is a sweet spot on the redemption chart. Even if not staying at the property, I highly recommend the restaurant menu or drinks at the roof top bar with stupendous views of the city – a must see!
