Air Canada at Billy Bishop YTZ – New Transborder Routes

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) is located on the Toronto Islands, just minutes from the city’s financial core. With U.S. Customs Pre-Clearance set to open at the airport in early 2026, Air Canada’s new transborder flights will allow passengers to clear U.S. customs before departure. This would make the airport an even more appealing option for cross-border travellers, particularly business travellers who prioritize short transit times and proximity to downtown.

Starting in Spring 2026, Air Canada will introduce non-stop services from YTZ to LGA, BOS, ORD, and IAD. These flights will be operated by Air Canada Express using the enhanced Dash 8-400 aircraft. Here are the flight schedules as shared by Air Canada;

Takeaway

In January 2026, Air Canada will increase daily flights between YTZ and YUL from eight to nine return flights, and between YTZ and YOW from four to six return flights.

The introduction of U.S. flights from YTZ is a massive strategic move, directly locking competition with Porter Airlines, and overall great news for all passengers who use YTZ.

Epic for those of us who live in midtown and travel carry-on only. Finally I can begin a multileg journey through a US gateway from YTZ! LGA isn’t that great for connectivity but great for subway users in New York! ORD! IAD! This is great news. Since Aeroplan points aren’t ever useful for longhaul premium from Canada, this’ll change things. Find a 87,500-point redemption from ORD, BOS, IAD, tack on a little 47,000-point segment from YTZ (reminder: we’re talking Aeroplan) and you’re off!
