Alaska Airlines has announced the expansion of its international service with the launch of two new nonstop routes from Seattle (SEA) to London Heathrow (LHR) and Reykjavik (KEF), Iceland, scheduled to begin in spring 2026.
- The new SEA-LHR service will be a year-round, daily route operated on Alaska’s 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft and offer 34 enclosed suites in Business Class, featuring fully lie-flat seats, direct aisle access, and premium onboard services. The London route is also expected to benefit from strengthened partnerships with American Airlines and British Airways, allowing for codesharing and loyalty program integration.
- The SEA-KEF route will operate daily during the summer travel season and will be served by Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft.
Coinciding with these route announcements, Alaska Airlines is debuting a new livery for its 787-9 Dreamliner fleet, inspired by the Aurora Borealis. The Dreamliners with the new livery are expected to enter service beginning January, and by spring 2026, all aircraft in the fleet will display the updated design. The new livery will not replace iconic elements, and the Alaska Native on Alaska’s narrowbody fleet and Pualani on Hawaiian Airlines aircraft will remain unchanged, representing the heritage and legacy of both airlines.
Alaska Airlines currently has four 787-9s in its fleet and expects to have as many as 17 deployed across its long-haul network. The 787’s will feature next-generation technology, superior fuel efficiency, and business class suites that include fully lie-flat seats, 18-inch screens, and privacy doors with direct aisle access.
Beyond the newly announced London and Reykjavik routes, Alaska will soon launch 787-9 service to Seoul-Incheon from Seattle on September 12, 2025, and will begin operating the Dreamliner on the existing Seattle–Tokyo Narita route on January 7, 2026. Flights to Rome are also slated to start next spring.
Additionally, Alaska’s Airbus A330 widebody fleet operated by Hawaiian Airlines will continue to serve international long-haul and U.S. domestic flights from Honolulu. These aircraft will receive updated interiors over the coming years, including lie-flat business class seats, a new premium economy cabin, and upgraded main cabin seating.
All flights and service plans are subject to government approval. Flight schedules and booking options for the SEA-LHR route will become available later in the year, and travellers can register here to receive direct updates from the airline.
