Hyatt Hotels has announced that a Park Hyatt hotel is set to debut in downtown Vancouver in 2026, marking the brand’s entry into British Columbia’s largest city. This will become the second Park Hyatt property in Canada following Park Hyatt Toronto. The new Park Hyatt Vancouver will take shape through a multi-million-dollar renovation of the former Shangri-La Vancouver. Until the rebranding is complete in 2026, the hotel will operate as Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni (Award Category 7) and is currently open to guests while undergoing its transformation.
The property is situated in the tallest building in Vancouver, offering sweeping views of the city’s harbour, coastal mountain ranges, and urban skyline. With its central downtown location, the hotel is steps from Alberni Street’s luxury retail corridor, high-end dining, and Vancouver’s leading cultural and arts attractions.
The transition to the Park Hyatt brand will include a significant redesign of the hotel’s guestrooms, public spaces, residential-style lobby, and wellness facilities, as well as enhancements to its spa offerings. Carlino, a Michelin-recommended restaurant, currently anchors dining at the hotel.
Takeaway
Hyatt Vancouver Downtown Alberni is now part of the World of Hyatt program, enabling members to earn and redeem points (although I could not find any points availability in 2025) for eligible stays. Once the hotel rebrands to Park Hyatt Vancouver in 2026, it will become the first Park Hyatt in Vancouver and the second in Canada, joining Park Hyatt Toronto (Award Category 6).
