Introduction and Booking

I’ve had the immense privilege of staying at the Ritz-Carlton, Amman on three separate occasions – twice for four nights and once for two – each during work trips to Jordan. Each visit reaffirmed the same conclusion: this is the most exceptional hotel I’ve ever experienced. I would return without hesitation and fully intend to.

The Ritz-Carlton is the epitome of luxury, and one of Marriott’s most premium brands, alongside the St. Regis (check out this review on the St. Regis in Oman). Every element of the property feels intentional, polished, and executed to the highest standard.

For each stay, my nightly rate was 154 JOD ($300 CAD) through the Canadian Embassy’s contracted rate. In comparison, the lowest standard rate when booking directly with Marriott is approximately 204 JOD ($398 CAD) per night. While my stays were covered as part of business travel, the value and overall experience were exceptional, and I would gladly return on my own dime (in both cash and points).

Arrival & Check-In

Each arrival set the tone for my stay. My taxi pulled up to the grand entrance, where sharply dressed staff greeted me. The doormen, wearing tuxedos and top hats, opened the car door, welcomed me warmly, and ensured my luggage was handled right away. Inside, the lobby was stunning: marble floors, a dramatic glass chandelier, and detailed décor that created a sophisticated and memorable first impression.

Check-in was always smooth, warm, and professional. I was addressed as “Miss Emily” throughout every stay, a small but meaningful level of personalization.

Walking through the hallway to the elevators, I was struck by how refined the property felt – soft lighting, elegant fixtures, and thoughtful architectural details. The luxury continued. In my room, the entryway was spacious and beautifully designed, complete with a large walk-in closet. The minibar was fully stocked with sweets, snacks, and a wide selection of premium beverages. The corridor led into the bedroom, which featured a chandelier, a desk, and a king bed. The colours, décor, and overall design were cohesive and calming, creating a luxurious atmosphere.

The ensuite bathroom was a masterpiece: double sinks, a decadent jacuzzi, and separate enclosed areas for the toilet and shower. The room also included a built-in surround-sound system that I could pair with my phone, allowing me to play music throughout the entire suite, including the bathroom.

One of the most impressive features was the floor-to-ceiling windows, outfitted with automatic curtains that glided open and closed at the press of a button. It made even the simplest moments, like waking up in the morning, feel cinematic and elevated. The sweeping city views were an impressive finishing touch.

Dining

The hotel offers a wide range of dining options, from fine dining to poolside meals. Across my three stays, I had the chance to try several:

Roberto’s: a modern, upscale restaurant on the top floor with excellent food, creative cocktails, and sweeping views of the Amman skyline. We were sitting at a table directly beside the large open window, giving us an outstanding dinner atmosphere with fresh air and a beautiful view. After dinner, we visited the adjoining lounge to enjoy more fun drinks and the live DJ.

Ambros Bistro: the hotel’s breakfast venue. The spread was exceptional, an impressive selection of international dishes, premium ingredients, and beautifully prepared options. My favourites quickly became the breakfast flatbread and the shakshuka, both so flavourful that I ordered them every morning. I always finished with a bowl of fresh fruit (strawberries and oranges) paired with a chocolate donut from the pastry section. Everything I tasted was outstanding. The bistro also offers outdoor seating with a lovely view of the hotel grounds, making breakfast feel calm, indulgent, and unhurried.

One morning, after I complimented the chef on the flatbread, he thanked me warmly and returned about ten minutes later with an entire freshly made flatbread boxed up for me to take with me. He had even written the ingredients on the box and included his email in case I wanted the full recipe. It was such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture that made me feel genuinely valued. These small moments of personalized attention are what elevate the Ritz-Carlton experience and make it truly memorable.

Legends Sports Bar: a relaxed, casual option offering pub-style dishes. It quickly became my go-to spot after work to have a drink and some wings with colleagues. The bar also includes a golf simulator.

Iris Tea Lounge: a bright, elegant space ideal for an afternoon snack and tea. I often used this venue to host in-person meetings or if I wanted a fancy treat or drink. They often had a musician performing, sometimes a woman playing the harp, which added a beautifully whimsical touch to the atmosphere.

The Pool Grill: During an afternoon at the pool, I ordered food and drinks from The Pool Grill, which offers a relaxed but refined dining experience. The service was highly attentive, and the live DJ contributed to a fun and vibrant atmosphere.

Takeaway

What truly sets the Ritz-Carlton apart goes beyond the décor. The service, personalization, and attention to detail are unmatched. Everywhere I went, I was greeted warmly with “good morning/afternoon, Miss Emily,” which made every interaction feel thoughtful and genuine.

I can’t recommend this hotel enough. From the refined design to the outstanding dining and exemplary service, the Ritz-Carlton, Amman delivers a level of luxury that makes you feel like royalty. It remains the best hotel experience I’ve ever had.
