Aeroplan has announced a new redemption partnership with Bearskin Airlines (JV), expanding members’ ability to redeem points for travel within Canada, particularly across Northern Ontario. Aeroplan members can now use their points for flight rewards on Bearskin-operated routes connecting regional destinations, including Winnipeg, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, Thunder Bay, and Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, and North Bay.
Aeroplan and Bearskin Airlines Partnership
The new partnership is redemption-only (for now), and Aeroplan members can book Bearskin flight rewards directly online or by contacting the Aeroplan Contact Centre. Flights on Bearskin can be redeemed on their own or as part of a multi-carrier itinerary that includes Air Canada or any other Aeroplan airline partner. The standard Aeroplan partner booking fee will apply to rewards that include travel on Bearskin Airlines. While Aeroplan points can currently be redeemed for Bearskin flights, members should note that earning Aeroplan points on Bearskin-operated flights is not yet available.

Owned and operated by Perimeter Aviation, Bearskin Airlines provides regional air service across Northern Ontario with the Dash 8-300, Dash 8-100, and Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner, totalling about 22 twin-turboprop aircraft. Its addition to Aeroplan’s network enhances domestic connectivity and complements Air Canada’s broader route map, following the model of Aeroplan’s recent regional partnership with Air Inuit.

The airline will join the existing regional partners in Aeroplan, such as Air Inuit, Canadian North, Calm Air, and Provincial Airlines Ltd (PAL), which are part of the Select Partners group, and features a dynamic award scale based on distance travelled, with no upper limit. Most JV routes are under 1500 miles and would fall within Zone 1or 2 of the North American award chart, where economy class redemptions start at 10,000 Aeroplan points.
