American Express Canada has brought back the popular promotion of 30% bonus points on eligible travel redemptions through their Flexible Points Travel Program. The promotion is valid for travel bookings made by February 28, 2025, and allows you to receive up to 30,000 bonus points. The promotion is targeted to specific accounts and may not be available to all Membership Rewards members.
Amex Canada – 30% Bonus Points on Travel Redemptions
The Amex Flexible Points Travel Program allows you to use your Membership Rewards points to pay for new travel purchases (Flights, Hotels), including taxes, surcharges, and fees, booked through American Express Travel Online. With this program, you can pay with points, your American Express Card, or a combination. Every 1,000 Membership Rewards points equate to $10 in travel credit.
Here’s how the promotion works:
- When you redeem Membership Rewards points for travel through American Express Travel Online, you’ll receive a 30% bonus on the points you use.
- The redemption value remains 1,000 points = $10 travel credit, but the bonus adds 30% of the redeemed points back to your account, up to the 30,000 bonus points cap.
Example: If you redeem 40,000 points for a $400 travel credit, you will receive a 12,000-point bonus (30% of 40,000).
In addition, when booking through American Express Travel Online, you can take advantage of the following benefits:
- Earn 1 additional point per $1 charged to your card.
- Combine your Annual Travel Credit (if unused) with your points to offset the cost of your booking.
- Utilize the insurance coverages available on your card.
- All eligible bookings made through Amex Travel qualify for elite status earnings
A reminder that this promotion is targeted, and only members who receive the email communication will be eligible for the bonus points back on travel redemption. The maximum bonus points you can earn is capped at 30,000 points, regardless of how much you redeem.
