Air Canada has announced significant updates to its Aeroplan reward chart, set to take effect on March 25, 2025. These changes include an expanded reward chart for Air Canada flights and select partner airlines with new dynamic pricing. Starting March 25, the reward chart for Air Canada flights will expand to include United Airlines, Emirates, Flydubai, Etihad Airways, and Canadian regional airline partners Calm Air, Canadian North, and PAL (Provincial Airlines).
Air Canada maintains that these special arrangements allow for preferential access to redemption flights and, in some instances, increased inventory levels. In turn, Aeroplan members will have greater availability of reward seats on these partner airlines than before.
The pricing under this new chart may be higher than the fixed partner award chart and will vary from one itinerary to another. Additionally, Etihad Business Class reward inventory will again be available systemwide starting March 25. However, no changes have been made to Etihad First Class reward availability.
Introduction of the “Air Canada and Select Partners” Reward Chart
- Instead of displaying reward amount ranges, the new chart will now feature a starting amount, which remains unchanged from current values, and a median amount based on historical redemptions with these airlines.
- The median amount will not be displayed for first-class awards or itineraries outside North America due to lower redemption volumes that could cause significant fluctuations. To ensure accuracy, the median amounts will be updated quarterly based on the previous four quarters of redemptions.
- The new chart will no longer list an ‘upper limit’ of redemption, as it currently does.
Air Canada and Select Partners Reward Chart
- Preferred Pricing for Aeroplan Elite Members and Credit Cardholders – Discounted redemption rates will continue to apply to Aeroplan Elite members and co-branded credit cardholders.
- No Changes to Fixed Pricing for Other Partners – The fixed pricing chart for all other partner airlines will remain unchanged. This means that flights booked on other Star Alliance and non-Star Alliance partner airlines outside the “Air Canada and Select Partners” chart will continue to follow existing fixed pricing structures.
Major Aeroplan Changes – Key Takeaways
- Starting March 25, 2025 – United Airlines, Emirates, Flydubai, Etihad Airways, Calm Air, Canadian North, and PAL Airlines will all join Air Canada under a consolidated dynamic pricing model.
- The new reward chart will no longer include an upper redemption limit. Instead, it will indicate a ‘starting at’ price and a Median price (only for North America).
- Aeroplan members are encouraged to plan and book their future redemptions before the new chart takes effect, especially if their plans include the airlines mentioned above.
