Park Hyatt Bangkok Review: Booking
My trip to Bangkok last year on Qatar Airways included a lacklustre Qsuite experience from Montreal to Doha and an exceptional First-Class experience onboard the A380 from Doha to Bangkok. For my weekend in Bangkok, I booked Park Hyatt on points to better leverage my World of Hyatt Globalist perks, which typically include room upgrades, complimentary breakfast, early check-in, and a 4 p.m. late checkout. A Category-6 hotel in the World of Hyatt portfolio, I could book an off-peak rate for my November stay for 21,000 points each night.

Park Hyatt Bangkok Review: Arrival and Check-in
Park Hyatt is a premium luxury property in the Hyatt Portfolio in the heart of Bangkok’s shopping, business and entertainment districts. The property has direct access to the Central Embassy, a world-class luxury mall and Ploenchit station on the BTS Skytrain. For this trip, I decided to book an airport pickup through the hotel, and the transit from the airport to the hotel was seamless, with the hotel staff picking me up at the exit door and ushering me into the waiting car outside the busy terminal.

A 25-minute hassle-free car ride later, we pulled into the beautiful Park Hyatt hotel. As the car pulled into the driveway, the concierge welcomed me to the property and ushered me in with a welcome drink. The small gesture of welcoming me by the car, knowing my name and duration of stay, was a nice touch and set the tone for the lovely weekend stay. After a brief hotel orientation and asking me some preference-related questions, the concierge walked with me to the elevators and the lobby on the 10th floor.

The hotel lobby was a beautiful setup with minimalist check-in desks flanking a stunning Buddha statue against the modern Bangkok city in the backdrop. It was a perfect frame to align the culture of this fascinating city of Bangkok. After a short set of formalities, I was accompanied by another hotel staff member to another set of elevators, which took us to my corner King Deluxe room on the 26th floor.

Park Hyatt Bangkok Review: King Bed Deluxe Room
The deluxe room offered one king bed and a lounge area set in 55 sqm (~600 sq ft.) with floor-to-ceiling wrap-around windows with lovely views of Bangkok city. The separate powder room & bathroom with double vanity, walk-in closet, and in-room private Bar offered everything I could need over the weekend. A 650 sq ft. room was exceptional as I realized that many hotels in North America provide suites for that size or less. I was keen to explore the rest of the hotel, as the room had set the bar very high.

Park Hyatt Bangkok Review: Restaurants and Bars
Shortly after settling into my room, I ordered some room service. The room service menu was impressive, and the operator even offered me the option to curate something not on the menu. But my sights were set on Kaho Sai – a northern Thai chicken curry noodle soup and Mango sticky rice for dessert. The food was well presented, and if you didn’t remind me that I was in Park Hyatt, it could have been at a famous street food stall in Bangkok. That’s high praise for a luxury hotel that believes in presenting authentic flavours rather than tinkering to suit a visitor’s palate.

The hotel has as many as four full-service restaurants which cater to different cuisines and themes;
- The Embassy Room on level 9 specializes in Catalan cuisine and was recently included in MICHELIN Guide Thailand Selected Restaurants 2024. During the day, The Embassy Room hosts guests for breakfast and offers an eclectic mix of Western, Middle Eastern, and Asian specialties. The breakfast spread includes a buffet setup and an a la carte menu.

For my first breakfast, I chose the Thai-style omelette with stir-fried chicken, and for breakfast on my final day, I went with the Northeast-style fried noodles and also explored the buffet setup a bit more, which included some classic Bangkok street fares like the minced stir-fry and BBQ pork.

Unfortunately, due to my short stay and prior commitments, I was unable to experience the other restaurants on-site. I suppose it’s something for next time.
- Penthouse Bar + Grill is spread across four floors on top of the hotel, each offering stylish drinking, dining, and entertainment in the heart of the city.

- The Living Room is for those looking to indulge in Thai comfort food, loose-leaf tea, and barista-made coffee.

- The Bar is a relaxed and informal space focused on wines, draft beer selection, non-alcoholic beverages, cigars, cognacs and small plates.
Park Hyatt Bangkok Review: Other Services and Facilities
The hotel offers expansive services and facilities, from babysitting to airport fast-track services. The highlight for me, though, was the 40-meter infinity pool set among lush greenery, a terraced lounge area, and overlooking the city.

The 24-hour fitness center and the Spa, which included a steam room and a whirlpool, were great ways to unwind after a hectic day.

The lounge area around the lobby was also a great escape from the city bustle. It was a great place to settle in with a nice book and a drink for the evening.

Park Hyatt Bangkok Review: Takeaway
Park Hyatt Bangkok stands tall amongst the luxury offerings in the city. The property offers a uniquely refined Thai experience and complements it with the renowned culture and warmth the country is known for. The hotel’s location is unbeatable, with easy access to the business, shopping and entertainment districts and direct access to the Skytrain. If you are looking for a luxurious getaway in Bangkok, Park Hyatt is at the top of my recommendation list.
