Hyatt Suite Upgrade Award is single-handedly the most valuable perk offered under the World of Hyatt program. It allows members to confirm a suite upgrade in advance for up to 7 consecutive nights! Better yet, the awards are applicable for cash and points booking, making it my favorite perk to use at aspirational properties around the globe. However, Hyatt has a long list of properties that do not offer suite awards and are called the  “Suite Award Ineligible Properties.” Let’s take a closer look at the Suite Upgrade Awards;

What is a Hyatt Suite Upgrade Award?

A Suite Upgrade Award is a unique perk that allows Hyatt members to upgrade a room to a standard suite accommodation at no additional cost. Each Suite Upgrade Award is good to upgrade for up to 7 nights. The ability to confirm a suite upgrade in advance can be invaluable for those looking for more space or to simply enhance the overall experience of their stay.

Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards cannot be redeemed for any suite type other than Standard Suites, including Premium Suites, Specialty, Premier, or Presidential Suites.

How to earn Hyatt Suite Upgrade Award?

Hyatt members earn Suite Upgrade Award as part of the Milestone Rewards, based on the number of nights stayed in a calendar year. Members can maximize by earning up to 8 Suite Upgrade Awards (or 56 nights!!) when they stay 100 nights in a calendar year. Hyatt Suite Upgrade Awards are set against the following milestones in the program;

• 2 Suite Upgrade Awards at 50 nights or 80,000 base points
• 2 Suite Upgrade Awards at 60 nights or 100,000 base points
• 1 Suite Upgrade Award each at  70, 80, 90, and 100 nights

Complimentary Suite Upgrade Awards can be tracked through the “My Awards” section of the Member’s account and are valid through the end of the year in which they were earned plus fourteen months. For example, earning the award in April 2023 will be valid until Feb 2025. The award must be used on reservations with a checkout date by the award’s expiration.

How to apply Hyatt Suite Upgrade Award?

Suite Upgrade Awards can be applied to eligible cash rates,  Free Night Award, a Club Free Night Award, or a standard-room Points + Cash Award, up to a maximum of seven consecutive nights. Once the reservation is confirmed, members can apply for the award by;

• Connecting with Hyatt MyConcierge
• Calling Hyatt Customer Support or via the Chat function on Hyatt App.

Hyatt properties not eligible for Suite Upgrade Award

Suite Upgrade Awards are not applicable at the following three hotel chains;

• Caption by Hyatt
• Hyatt Place hotels or resorts
• Destination by Hyatt Residences
