IHG latest sale is a 100% bonus on points purchase, a fairly regular promotion. The big difference though is that the purchase limit for this promotion has been increased to 250,000 IHG points. IHG 100% bonus is available on purchase of 3000 points or more, at 0.5 cents price-point is the cheapest I have seen. The offer is available for purchases made between May 6, 2020 and 11:59 PM ET June 15, 2020 inclusive.
IHG 100% BONUS
The tiered bonuses kick in with a minimum purchase of 5000 points. Purchase of 100,000 points for $1,000 USD would yield a total of 200,000 points at 0.5 CPM – incredible value!
IHG has increased the purchase cap from 100K to a 250,000 points. Members may purchase a maximum of 250,000 points per calendar year and receive as a gift a maximum of 250,000 points per calendar year. Additionally, IHG Rewards Club Premier Credit Card offers fourth night free on award redemption, which enhances the points purchase value even further. Normally, points purchased appear in account within 24 hours, but can take upto 72 hours in some cases.
While I don’t recommend speculative points purchase in these uncertain times, it is a good way to top-up account balance towards a specific redemption, albeit far into the future. Would you purchase points with 100% bonus this time around?

Waiting on my 140k sub to post from the recent Chase offer, than I might consider topping up, if the dynamic pricing doesn’t become too wide spread.
Yep! Good thing is we have seen the 100% bonus pretty regularly from IHG. So no rush if you were looking for a top-up 🙂
Just did a quick check in NYC in July, at the Barclay. A queen room costs $187.67, or 70,000 points. At 0.5 cpp, that $187 room would cost me $350 by buying points. Why is this a good deal?
Hi Jesse,
Agreed – In your specific example, it totally does not make sense to buy points just to pay for that stay. Obviously, you are better off paying cash.
