Aeroplan has announced its latest airline partnership with Flydubai, effective December 6, 2023. The Dubai (DXB) based airline is known for its cost-effective and efficient services across its expansive network of over 110 destinations in more than 50 countries. This includes regions within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Middle East, Africa, Asia, the Caucasus, Central and Southeast Europe, and the Indian Subcontinent. The airline is particularly noted for routes to appealing destinations such as Krabi in Thailand and Zanzibar in Tanzania.

This partnership is a strategic addition for Aeroplan, complementing Air Canada’s direct flights to Dubai from Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR). It broadens the scope for Aeroplan members, who now have the opportunity to redeem their points on Flydubai’s extensive network.

Flydubai operates a relatively young fleet comprising more than 75 Boeing 737 aircraft. These aircraft feature a dual-cabin configuration, including lie-flat seats in Business Class, ensuring a comfortable travel experience. For Aeroplan members, this partnership opens up new destinations and flight options.

Below are the key details:

  • Members will be able to book flydubai flights online at aircanada.com, through the Air Canada mobile app, or via Aeroplan’s Contact Centre
  • Flights can be combined with flights operated by Air Canada and other international airline partners.
  • Flydubai flights are eligible for redemption in Economy and Business class cabins.
  • The partner booking fee will apply for flight rewards, which include travel on Flydubai

The new partnership between Aeroplan and FlyDubai adds an exciting player to the redemption mix for Aeroplan members. With the existing route map, a new fun option to travel beyond Dubai on direct flights. Since Emirates and FlyDubai ‘enjoy’ a dedicated redemption chart, I don’t expect to see availability issues as we have seen with some aspirational partner airlines.
