Between now and August 3, 2026, Aeroplan is offering discounts on many non-flight redemptions through a new promotion called Aeroplan Redemption Days.
Of the discounted redemptions, car rentals and hotels are the most interesting. There are also discounts on prepaid cards, a Starbucks Stars conversion bonus, extra points on gas, and more. You can view the full details on the Aeroplan Redemption Days landing page.
Up to 15,000 Points Off Car Rentals & Hotels
Specifically, Aeroplan discounts car rental redemptions by up to 15,000 points and hotel redemptions by up to 10,000 points. Use code RDAUTO26 and RDHOTEL26, respectively.
The discounts are flat: 10,000 points off hotels and 15,000 points off car rentals, provided your redemption totals at least 50,000 points. Aeroplan has run dedicated HotelSavers promotions before, but this time the discount is folded into the broader Aeroplan Redemption Days event.
Confirm all bookings by August 2 at 11:59 pm PT. Aeroplan automatically applies the discount when your cart contains more than 50,000 points’ worth of eligible items in the Aeroplan travel portal. More importantly, you pay the discounted rate upfront rather than waiting for a rebate afterwards.
Maximizing Aeroplan Redemption Days
Since the discount is a flat rate, the optimal redemption is right at 50,000 points, where you get 30% off car rentals and 20% off hotels. You can use the codes as many times as you want, so it’s best to redeem in chunks of 50,000 points if you’re redeeming a hefty amount of points. Remember that Aeroplan also offers 4th night free for Aeroplan co-branded credit card holders, which is stackable with this promotion.
Unlike some other programs, Aeroplan calculates your free night based on the average cost of the other nights rather than simply making the cheapest night free. For example, if two nights cost 15,000 points each and the other two nights cost 20,000 points, for a total of 70,000 points, you can expect to pay 52,500 points for 4 nights.
But with the stacking, note the 10,000-point discount kicks in after the free night already kicks in so you won’t get 50,000 points if 4th-night-free drops the total under 50,000 points.
Is Aeroplan Redemption Days Worth It?
For completion, note you can get up to 20,000 points off prepaid cards at the Aeroplan eStore, a 15% bonus when converting points to Starbucks Stars, 300 bonus points and up to 7¢ off per Litre with Journie Rewards.
However, we don’t recommend any of these redemptions despite these discounts. The best use of Aeroplan points is for flights (specifically business and first class), with hotels occasionally representing decent value. In our article digging into redeeming Aeroplan points for hotels through HotelSavers, it’s actually a worthwhile redemption once you take into account the 4th-night-free and a points back promo. So if you can redeem for 4 nights and can find a redemption right around 50,000 points to get back 10,000 points and pay effectively just 40,000 points, I’d say to go ahead and enjoy your hotel stay.

While the car rental redemptions sound like a better deal with 15,000 points back (30% off 50,000 points), keep in mind credit card insurance coverage only kicks in if the price of the rental is charged to the card. Some credit cards offer insurance coverage for award flights, but it’s very cut-and-dried for car rentals.
Takeaway
Flights remain the best use of Aeroplan points, but Aeroplan Redemption Days makes hotel redemptions decently attractive and much more so than usual. If you can redeem close to the 50,000-point threshold and stack the promotion with the 4th-night-free benefit, it’s worth running the numbers and checking whether redeeming Aeroplan points with HotelSavers makes sense.
Car rentals and the other Aeroplan Redemption Days offers are less compelling in my view. If you already planned to redeem for a hotel or rental car, make sure to book by August 2 to lock in the discount, but don’t let the promotion convince you to redeem your points on something you otherwise wouldn’t have booked.
