WestJet seems to be doing a Hyatt here, giving out Elite status as candies.  We recently saw an overly generous status match promotion by WestJet where elite status from ANY loyalty program were being matched. Now the latest WestJet fast track promotion for 2016 is all set to add a few more elites.

WestJet Fast Track Program

The fast track program offers Silver and Gold elite benefits until December 2017. There are three ways to get there:

  • Qualify for Silver status with a minimum $1000 qualifying flight spend on WestJet flights flown between October 3rd and December 18, 2016.
  • Qualify for Gold status with a minimum $1500 qualifying flight spend on WestJet flights flown between October 3rd and December 18, 2016.

And the easiest of them all;

  • For new and existing WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard cardholders, $500 in qualifying flight spend gets Silver status and $1000 in qualifying flight spend gets Gold status (a $500 reduction on qualifying flight spend requirements to reach Silver or Gold, respectively).

The WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard also comes with the following benefits;

WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard benefits

WestJet RBC World Elite MasterCard benefits

If you meet the fast track criteria, you can enjoy the following flight benefits until Dec 2017;

WestJet Rewards - Flight benefits

WestJet Rewards – Flight benefits

To be eligible for the WestJet fast track program each  member must register individually – link  here

Take Away

This push to add new elites can dilute the program significantly and will definitely irk existing members that have qualified the hard way. If you didn’t manage to qualify for the outright status match a couple of months ago, this promo is the second best way towards enjoying elite benefits.  WestJet has been publishing some incredible fares to UK recently ($399 CAD, without hot meal) and also partners with American, Delta and Qantas to serve other international routes. Westjet program has been an underrated player in the Canadian market, but with RBC World Elite MasterCard benefits (companion voucher) there is incredible value to be had.
