Introduction and Booking
The Marriott Marquis Dubai, located in the vibrant Jewel of the Creek, is a luxury 5-star property that offers captivating views of both the iconic Dubai skyline and the serene Dubai Creek. Situated in Deira, the hotel is minutes away from Downtown Dubai, Dubai International Airport (DXB), and major attractions.
I booked a two-night stay at this property for just 24,000 Bonvoy points per night (later, I found nights for as low as 21,000 Bonvoy points), an exceptional value. For comparison, other five-star hotels in Dubai typically range from 60,000 to 95,000 points per night, making this property a sweet spot for those seeking a luxury stay at an affordable rate.
Getting There and Check-in
After a 12-hour flight from Montreal on the Emirates 777-200LR Business Class, I arrived at DXB and took an Uber to the hotel. The ride took less than 10 minutes, as the hotel is only 5.5 kilometres from the airport. While the property doesn’t offer a shuttle service, its proximity to the airport makes transportation easy.
This was my first time staying in the newly developed Dubai Creek area, and I was instantly impressed. The area blends modern Dubai’s opulence with the creek’s tranquillity, offering breathtaking skyline views. The hotel’s entrance was grand and welcoming, with a stunning combination of Arabic heritage and modern art design.
Walking into the lobby at 8:30 am, I was prepared to pay for an early check-in. However, the reception staff surprised me by confirming that my room was ready without any additional charge. To my delight, I was also upgraded from a standard Deluxe room to an M Club King room as a Bonvoy Platinum member. The lobby was a visual masterpiece, featuring a central water feature with a suspended chandelier, luxurious marble flooring, and intricately designed screens behind the reception desk. There were ample seating options, perfect for soaking in the grandeur while waiting for a room or a ride.
M Club King Room
The M Club King Room on a higher floor spans a generous 829 square feet. It features a living/sitting area, a plush king bed, and exclusive M Club Lounge access. The room’s design incorporates traditional Emirati elements in a contemporary style, balancing cultural homage and modern luxury.
The room also includes an oversized ottoman and a separate workstation, making it versatile for relaxation and productivity. The space felt expansive and intimate, with thoughtful touches enhancing the overall experience.
M Club Lounge and Dining Options
The Marriott Marquis Dubai offers six dining options along with the M Club Lounge:
- Creek Kitchen: An all-day dining restaurant featuring international cuisines and live stations.
- Bella Bocca: A haven for Italian cuisine, offering handmade pasta, pizzas, and regional specialties.
- The Copperhead: An upscale pub serving delicious bar bites alongside a wide selection of drinks.
- The Great Room: Located in the lobby, this space is ideal for business meetings or enjoying coffee and tea in a relaxed setting.
- M Club Lounge: A private and exclusive space for guests seeking a quieter ambiance.
My access to the M Club Lounge quickly made it my preferred destination for breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening desserts. The lounge is open 24/7 and has various seating arrangements suitable for dining, business meetings, or simply relaxing with a drink while enjoying the Dubai skyline.
The breakfast spread in the lounge was nothing short of spectacular. It included a live omelet station, local dishes, continental favourites, cold cuts, and small bites. The outdoor terrace added a unique touch, allowing guests to dine al fresco with stunning views. The quality and variety of food rivalled upscale restaurants, making it an elevated dining experience. Since breakfast coincided with my dinner time due to the time difference, I thoroughly indulged in the offerings.
Other Services and Facilities
The hotel’s amenities extend beyond its dining options. It features a conference floor with 13 event rooms, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and a spa with a Moroccan hammam treatment. While my stay was short, I made time to visit the gym, which was well-equipped and inviting.
The hotel also offers direct access to the Dubai Creek promenade, perfect for strolling along the water and admiring private yachts and boats.
Takeaway
My stay at the Marriott Marquis Dubai was memorable and exceeded my expectations in every way. The hotel’s location in the newly developed Dubai Creek area provides a luxurious retreat away from the tourist crowds while maintaining easy access to the airport and major attractions.
Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveller to Dubai, the Marriott Marquis Dubai offers excellent value, especially for Bonvoy members looking to maximize their points. It’s an ideal layover hotel or a base for exploring Old Dubai (Deira) and the surrounding areas. This property is highly recommended for repeat visitors seeking a quieter yet equally luxurious experience.
