Most travellers don’t think twice about buying a snack, a bottle of water, or a last-minute travel essential at the airport. Thanks to a new partnership between Aeroplan and Club Avolta, those purchases can now earn Aeroplan points and even contribute toward Air Canada Elite Status.
Club Avolta is the loyalty program of Avolta, the world’s largest travel retailer. While the name may not be familiar, the company operates thousands of airport retail and duty-free stores worldwide, including brands such as Hudson, Dufry Duty Free, and World Duty Free.
Although this isn’t a blockbuster announcement, it’s another step in Aeroplan’s continued expansion beyond flights, adding yet another way for members to earn points through everyday travel spending.
Aeroplan and Club Avolta Partner Up
Beginning today, Aeroplan members can link their Aeroplan and Club Avolta accounts through the Avolta app and earn Aeroplan points at more than 900 Avolta airport and travel retail locations. Members earn one Aeroplan point for every $2 CAD spent on eligible purchases at participating Hudson and Dufry stores, through Avolta’s Reserve & Collect online service, or via the Club Avolta app.

Earn Aeroplan points with new Club Avolta partnership
The partnership will continue expanding throughout 2026, with dining restaurants, quick-service outlets, Grab & Go, and all HMSHost dining locations to be added. The result will be some 1,900 participating airport retail and food and beverage locations across North American airports. Initial participating airports include:
- Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
- Vancouver International Airport (YVR)
- Calgary International Airport (YYC)
- Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ)
- Los Angeles (LAX)
- San Francisco (SFO)
- Chicago O’Hare (ORD)
Once accounts are linked, Aeroplan members can opt in to receive exclusive offers and personalized promotions through the Avolta app.
Earn SQC With Non-Flying Activity
On its own, this isn’t a groundbreaking partnership. Obviously, most members aren’t going to dramatically increase their Aeroplan balance by buying a coffee or a bottle of water before a flight.
However, it’s another example of Aeroplan’s broader strategy to embed itself across more aspects of the travel journey. Rather than limiting earning opportunities to flights and credit cards, the program continues to expand into everyday travel spending from rides to the airport with Uber to hotel stays, car rentals, and now airport retail.
More interestingly, this partnership also complements Aeroplan’s revenue-based elite status program, new for 2026. Members now earn 1 Status Qualifying Credit (SQC) for every 5 eligible Aeroplan points earned through retail and travel partners, up to 25,000 SQC per calendar year (from non-flying partner activity).
That means purchases through Club Avolta will contribute toward Aeroplan Elite Status. Combined with spending at other Aeroplan partners such as Uber, Starbucks, LCBO, and Avis, it gives members another way to work toward Elite Status without stepping onto an Air Canada flight.
Takeaway
This partnership won’t transform your Aeroplan earning strategy, but it’s another example of Aeroplan expanding beyond flights and credit cards into everyday travel spending. If you’re already shopping at airport retailers before your next trip, linking your accounts is an effortless way to earn a few extra points while making incremental progress toward Aeroplan Elite Status.
