There is nothing better than a warm shower and a comfy bed after a long haul in economy cabin, or even a business class cabin for that matter. Especially, if you are connecting to another long haul flight. Passengers that don’t have lounge access are often thin on options to shower and rest at an airport. While many airports have enhanced the services offered to transit passengers, not many offer complimentary shower rooms. I wanted to highlight airports that are transit friendly and offer free shower facilities.

Note that the links on the airport will take you directly to the airport website with related information on shower facilities. This list is not complete by any means, if you know of other airports that offer free shower facilities for transit passengers, please leave a comment below and I will update this post. Thank you in advance 🙂

Are towels available at these facilities?

Last month utilized very basic shower facility at SGN and realized in end that I had no towel in my hand baggage. It was challenging to get my self dry with t-shirt and paper towel 🙂

Showers – Free showers are available in the International Terminal, Airside, opposite Gate 25

I have seen the Hong Kong facilities and have been tempted to use them (arriving in muggy May). I could not figure out if passengers are expected to tip attendants (have money ready)? I did not actually try it, figuring I would be muggy again waiting outside for the public airport bus where you have to line up outside. However, for those going directly to a meeting or taking more air conditioned transportation, it sounds wonderful.

Thanks for sharing Sara, I have seen them as well and they look clean and nice. Never tried it myself. Great feature for an airport to boast of, imo 🙂

Auckland has had free shower facilities in its domestic terminal, which is useful if you’ve just got off a long haul and are transferring to a domestic flight.
