American Express has announced its first-ever Centurion Lounge in continental Europe. The new Centurion Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) opens on September 17, 2026, and will become the 33rd Centurion Lounge globally.
London Heathrow has had a Centurion Lounge (full review) since 2021, but the network has otherwise been much more visible across the United States and in some international airports, including Hong Kong HKG (full review). And AMS is also a particularly strong hub for a Centurion Lounge. For Canadian travellers in particular, AMS is an important European gateway thanks to nonstop connectivity from Canada, including YVR, YYC, YEG, YYZ, YUL, YHZ.
Centurion Lounge Amsterdam AMS – Location
The new Centurion Lounge is located between Concourse E and F at AMS and will be open daily from 6:00 AM until 9:30 PM. That location puts the lounge in the international/non-Schengen portion of the airport, perfect for international transit passengers. Reminder: airport passport control separates Schengen and non-Schengen departures, so travellers will need to pay attention to where their flight departs rather than assuming they can access the lounge simply because they are flying through AMS.
Centurion Lounge Amsterdam AMS – Access
Access to the lounge will be restricted to eligible cardmembers, consistent with the policies for the Centurion Lounge Network. To access The Centurion Lounge, Card Members must bring an eligible card along with a confirmed same-day boarding pass with seat/zone assignment. Eligible cards include;
- Valid Consumer Platinum Card, Business Platinum Card, or Corporate Platinum Card
- Delta SkyMiles Reserve Amex Card
- Centurion Card
Access is generally permitted within three hours of departure, while the three-hour restriction does not apply in the same way when connecting on a same-day itinerary. Guest policies at international Centurion Lounge locations can vary by location.
Starting January 1, 2027, Canadian Platinum Cardmembers will have a limited number of complimentary visits to Plaza Premium and Priority Pass lounges unless they meet the applicable annual spending threshold. Centurion Lounge access, however, remains part of the Platinum Card’s unlimited lounge-access benefits under the currently published Canadian terms.
So while Amsterdam already has Aspire lounges available through the broader lounge ecosystem, the Centurion Lounge gives eligible Amex cardholders a proprietary Amex option at one of Europe’s busiest connecting airports.

Centurion Lounge Amsterdam AMS – Layout and Seating
At nearly 6,000 square feet, Amsterdam will not be one of the enormous Centurion Lounges we have seen American Express build at some major U.S. hubs. The lounge has been divided into a variety of seating areas rather than one large open room.
The lounge includes armchairs, café tables, high-top seating, booths, and group seating, along with quieter areas for travellers who need to work. The lounge also includes a dedicated phone room, private restrooms, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi and plenty of power and USB access throughout the space.

Notably, Amex has not announced showers as part of the Amsterdam lounge amenities. Worth keeping in mind given many North American flights arrive early in the morning.
Centurion Lounge Amsterdam AMS – F&B and Coffee Bar
The lounge will serve seasonal dishes inspired by Dutch and regional European flavours, including locally sourced ingredients. The lounge also has a full bar serving beer and cocktails, with a beverage program that blends local and broader international influences.

Lounge Bar
Amsterdam has a strong café and specialty-coffee culture, and Amex has carved out a dedicated coffee area inside the lounge – Blue Roast Coffee Bar will serve locally sourced coffee through a dedicated barista-led program.

American Express has new Centurion Lounges planned for Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), while another Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge location is planned for Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT).
For Canadian travellers carrying an eligible Amex Platinum product, another global hub airport now has a Centurion Lounge, which is fantastic news.
