A staple in every Canadian wallet where Marriott is the brand of choice for hotel stays, Marriott Bonvoy American Express cards now come with historic high welcome bonus offers. The Business version now offers up to 90,000 bonus points, while the personal Marriott Bonvoy card offers up to 80,000 bonus points. The new offer requirements are split between an elevated bonus against spending requirements on the first three months of card membership and an additional bonus for spending on eligible gas, dining, and travel purchases. Marriott Bonvoy Redemption
Besides redeeming free nights with no blackout dates at over 7,000 hotels and resorts around the globe, Marriott Bonvoy points also allow you to use your points for flights. One of my favourite uses of Bonvoy points is to transfer them to several airlines at a 3:1 ratio, where 60,000 points yield 20,000 miles. Additionally, Marriott adds 5K bonus miles on every 60K points transferred, which results in an incredible 25,000 miles!! It’s best to convert in batches of 60k Bonvoy points.
Take Away
If Marriott is your preferred brand for hotel stays, Marriott Bonvoy American Express cards are a must-have. 15 elite night credits, an annual free night award, and up to Gold Elite status are enticing benefits for potential cardmembers. Unlike US Bonvoy cards, Canadian Bonvoy cards do not combine the elite night benefit across personal and business cards, with 15 elite nights being the maximum per member.
