The English Hotel – Introduction and Booking

The English Hotel is a boutique hotel in the vibrant Las Vegas Arts District (also known as 18b). Designed by Chef Todd English, it is part of the Tribute Portfolio brand within Marriott Bonvoy. Catering exclusively to adults, The English Hotel embraces the local art culture and provides a distinctive stay, blending modern amenities and artistic flair. Its central location makes it a prime spot for those looking to explore the artistic heartbeat of Las Vegas beyond the Vegas Strip.

Back in January 2024, I had the opportunity to stay at The English Hotel for three nights. I intentionally picked a location away from the strip to experience the city away from neon lights. The rate was cash-friendly at $220/night or ~21,000 Points/night, and I was happy to earn double elite nights for my stay.

The English Hotel – Arrival and Check-in

My Uber pulled up to the hotel’s main entrance in a quiet neighbourhood 15 minutes from the Vegas trip. The hotel resembles a boutique residential condo building adorned with beautiful bougainvillea flowers and lush greenery. The Bonvoy Elite board just past the doors is a lovely surprise, updated daily to reflect the names of elite members checking in on the day.

The lobby is a beautiful space with various seating complemented by plenty of green, which can easily double as a cocktail lounge. The check-in process was simple with a friendly staff member who was happy to acquaint me with hotel amenities and pulled out a random casino chip as part of the welcome gift, which would be used for any F&B option during the stay. I got $13 in casino chips, while my friend got $25.

The English Hotel – Deluxe King Room

I was appointed room 312, a deluxe king room with a high ceiling, a fancy bar cart, and original artwork and decor. Perhaps too hip for my old bones, the room also boasted of a ‘showstopping mirrored shower’ and advertises it on its webpage as

Show off your sexy silhouette as you bathe in our mirrored shower

Sure. But… never mind. I am sure there is an audience for it. It reminded me of W Toronto, where I felt like I was not the intended audience for the property. Besides the slightly creepy ‘watch me while I bathe’ advertising, the room was well-appointed and functional. I couldn’t help but wonder why lounger sofas in a room often face the bed and not the window.

The English Hotel – Food and Beverage

The hotel heavily relies on its only F&B outlet, The Pepper Club. It offers a dining experience that blends comfort and style. The ambiance is inviting, with a modern yet cozy setup that suits various dining occasions. The restaurant is helmed by the four-time James Beard award-winning Chef Todd English, a celebrated culinary figure known for his innovative approach to cuisine.

The Pepper Club’s menu offers a range of crafted options, from fresh seafood to savoury meats. With a generous timeframe of 10 am to 3 pm, the menu offers breakfast and brunch options to hotel guests. Over a couple of days, I tried the Ube-stuffed French Toast, Omelette, and Avacado toast for breakfast. I also enjoyed the short rib from the dinner menu and hand-crafted cocktails while hosting some friends from town. In all cases, the portion sizes were ‘very Vegas,’ as was the ability to tip and pay in casino chips.

The English Hotel – Other Hotel Amenities

My favourite hotel amenity was the uber-stylish heated pool area, which had a private partly shaded cabana with lounge chairs and side tables, a firepit, and poolside service with food and drinks available for purchase from The Pepper Club. The deep pink and purple hue of the bougainvillea flowers complimented the beautiful murals, making a morning dip a must-do activity.

The English Hotel Las Vegas – Takeaway

This adults-only property caters to people aged 21 and over and is chic and Instagrammable. The mix of comfort with art and design made the stay very eclectic. If you are looking for a getaway from the neon lights of the Vegas strip, it will be tough to look past The English Hotel, a gem tucked away in the bohemian art district of Vegas.
