There is a single best redemption value for TD Rewards: using them on Expedia For TD at 0.5 cents each ($1 = 200 points) towards anything on the website. The value is straightforward: you can redeem points directly during checkout, and it’s all pretty seamless.
But there’s actually a second-best way to redeem TD Rewards: “Pay Off Purchases”. Basically, you pay directly with your TD Rewards card and then redeem your points as a statement credit at a slightly lower value of just over 0.44 cents per point ($1 = 225 points).
However, to get the improved 0.44 cents with “Pay Off Purchases”, purchases have to explicitly code as travel, compared to “Book Any Way Travel”, where TD is exceedingly generous with what counts (think gas and meals). “Book Any Way Travel” has a redemption of 0.4 cents per point ($1 = 250 points).
Why Not Expedia For TD
The reasons to use “Pay Off Purchases ” and “Book Any Way Travel” even though it comes in at a lower cent per point, are many:
- Book directly with the hotel and earn elite nights and take advantage of elite benefits, because Expedia is a third-party booking
- Expedia occasionally charges higher prices than booking directly or using other booking channels
- Redeem for items that don’t show up on Expedia, such as gas, Airbnbs, or theatre tickets
With “Book Any Way Travel”, TD is so generous with what qualifies as “travel” for TD Rewards redemptions, and therefore I frequently redeem my points this way.

TD is very generous with the “travel” definition
How to Redeem Online
Now, the actual mechanism to “Book Any Way Travel” is through a special TD Rewards website: locate “Book Any Way Travel” in the “Redeem” tab, then register and enter the information for the transaction you wish to redeem.

TD Rewards “Book Any Way Travel”
It is very straightforward, albeit not as straightforward as manually entering transaction information, which feels very archaic in this day and age, when TD presumably already has access to our transactions. In any case, make sure you enter the information exactly matching your transaction details (check your online banking), and you will see the statement credit appear within 3-5 business days.

Submit requests for “Book Any Way” redemptions
More unusual travel purchases may not work online. I’ve had statement credits not show up (presumably denied), only to redeem them successfully by calling TD and requesting “Book Any Way.” My hunch is that phone agents have more discretion over what qualifies as an eligible travel purchase.
“Book Any Way” Online Redemptions Online are Ending Sometime in 2026
In any case, TD Rewards is ending online redemptions for “Book Any Way Travel” later this year (no date given), but it will remain available by phone. The most likely explanation is that TD finds “Book Any Way Travel” less profitable than its other redemption options. Introducing an extra barrier and eliminating online redemptions would naturally discourage members from using it.
In fact, “Book Any Way” does not show up on the main TD Rewards website at all and only appears when you click the very bottom link “Questions about My TD Rewards? Learn how it works >” (only shows up after you log in to EasyWeb).

TD is certainly not transparent about “Book Any Way” existing at all
Even after clicking that, you have to scroll all the way down to find “Book Any Way Travel,” which only lists a phone number and no link to redeem online. (That’s why I referenced a “special” TD Rewards website above.)

“My TD Rewards” makes no mention of online “Book Any Way” redemptions
Takeaway
While redeeming TD Rewards through Expedia for TD still provides the best value at 0.5 cents per point and you can get 0.44 cents per point through “Pay Off Purchases”, “Book Any Way Travel” remains an excellent alternative to redeem really any and all purchases made during travel. TD’s remarkable generosity with what qualifies as “travel” makes it possible to redeem points for more unique purchases such as gas, restaurants, and convenience store purchases.
It’s also hard to ignore that TD has made “Book Any Way Travel” increasingly difficult to find, burying it deep within its website and now eliminating online redemptions altogether. The exact date is unconfirmed by TD, but you’ll soon need to call 1-800-983-8472 to redeem your points. The redemption value hasn’t changed; only the process has become less convenient.

I don’t think this is quite correct. The redemption rate for “Book Any Way Travel” has always been 0.4 cpp (up to the first $1,200), and the new improved rate of 0.44 cpp was introduced directly through their “Pay Off Purchases” menu for travel purchases.
This phasing out of online redemption should only affects those who have been redeeming at 0.4 cpp against travel expenses that don’t code as travel, such as meals, activities, etc. (still sucks).
You are totally right – I’ve updated the article to reflect as such! I’ve been using Book Any Way Travel extensively to pay for literally all expenses incurred on trips at 0.4.
