Good news Bonvoy members – a timely update from Marriott, as leisure travel is set to pick up for Summer (especially in the US) and Fall (fingers crossed for Canada). Marriott Bonvoy has extended the expiry of eligible Free Night Awards (FNA), and Bonvoy points in general. Lets look at the details;
Marriott Free Night Awards(FNA)
Starting May 6, 2021, members who had a FNA with an original expiration date in 2020, as part of their co-brand Credit Card Benefit, Annual Choice Benefit, promotions or travel package, will be able to redeem it through January 3, 2022. FNAs with an original expiration date before 2020 will not be eligible for the additional extension. Members do not need to take any action because the system will automatically update their account with these extensions on May 6, 2021.
Bonvoy Points Expiration Extended
Marriott Bonvoy paused points expiration through August 1, 2021. The points expiration has now been extended through March 31, 2022. This will give members whose accounts have been inactive for at least 24 months even more time for a points transaction to keep their account active and to redeem points in their account toward a stay.
What About Suite Night Awards (SNA)?
Elite Members who had Suite Night Awards (earned in 2019 as part of the 50- and 75-Night Annual Choice Benefit) with an expiration date of December 31, 2020 were extended to December 31, 2021. This should already be reflected on your account, now.
Marriott Bonvoy had made a slew of extension to benefits, including status extension, depositing Elite night credits into member accounts and extending Suite Night Awards, details of these extension can be found on the well layed out Q&A section here.
