SPG Promotions 2017
Earlier in the year, SPG had announced a promotion called ‘SPG Double Take‘ which allowed members to earn 2X starpoints on first 3 stays between Jan 16th – April 17, 2017.
SPG is back with a targeted offer of up to 7500 Starpoints, for stays between February 15 – May15, 2017. My account was targeted with this offer and I am over the moon! Given that the timelines for the above mentioned promotions overlap, I can stack these offers for a great return on my paid stays (T&C confirm that this offer CAN BE COMBINED with other SPG promotions at the time).

IHG Promotion
IHG is running a 4 day points purchase sale which offers up to 100% bonus until February 17, 2017. The bonus is triggered with a minimum purchase of 5000 points (10K with bonus) for $67.50 USD to a maximum of 60,000 points (120k with bonus) for $690 USD.
I don’t recommend buying points just to fatten your account balance. However, with a specific use in mind this promotion can be very handy. For example, I have a stay scheduled in Toronto in June and IC Toronto prices at $489+taxes for the dates. I could buy the 120K points for ~$900 CAD at 0.75/cent under this promotion and book with points for 40K/night. 40K points translate to $300 CAD/nt, a savings of ~38%!
Also, don’t forget the ongoing IHG Accelerate 2017 which can be combined with the points bonus promotion to really drive home a great value for next vacation.
Take Away
With a flurry of promotions and bonuses, its easy to get inundated. Stacking promotions is the best way to maximize the returns and I plan my stays and pursue promotions accordingly. Its prudent to register for all promotions but only pursue those that best fit your travel plans.
