Austrian Airlines Business Class Lounge Vienna – Location and Access
After attending the Eurovision contest in Vienna, I visited the lounge before my flight back to Canada, via the USA. The Austrian Airlines Business Class Lounge is located at Vienna International Airport (VIE), in the international wing of Terminal C near the D Gates. The lounge is upstairs near Gate D29 and is accessible by elevator.
If you’re flying to the USA, there’s a good chance this will be the lounge closest to your departure gate. Access requires either an Austrian Airlines Business Class ticket or Star Alliance Gold status.

Austrian Airlines Business Class Lounge – Layout and Seating
At the entrance, two attendants at a check-in desk greet you. To the right of the reception desk is the initial seating area, with a grey countertop, six bar stools, and charging stations. From there, a short flight of stairs takes you to the main lounge.

Turning left from the main entrance leads to another seating area with light green and dark red chairs, white tables, and countertops.

Turning right from the reception desk leads to the main food station. A TV displaying flight departure information is located near the food station.

Walking further down from the food station, a short flight of stairs leads to the men’s and women’s bathrooms. This section of the lounge also has more light green and bright red leather chairs.

Lastly, at the end of the lounge, a flat-screen TV was playing the news on mute. In front of the TV are three grey lounge chairs with leg rests, if you want to put your feet up and relax for a few minutes before your flight.
Lounge Amenities, Charging Stations and Flight Announcements
The lounge played no music, and no regular flight departure announcements were made. However, if an Austrian Airlines flight changed gates, the lounge made an announcement, as I learned during my visit!
This small lounge had no children’s or family room, and no business centre. Charging stations were available at the seats closer to the windows. However, seats farther from the windows had no charging stations.

More Lounge Views
Given that Vienna is Austrian Airlines’ main hub, this lounge felt more like a satellite lounge than a main lounge.
Austrian Airlines Business Class Lounge – Food and Drinks
As you approach the food station, hot soup and fresh bread are on the right-hand side. Walking past that is the coffee station, followed by the wine and spirits station. There is a cold meats and cheese station right after the drinks, and at the end is a refrigerator stocked with beer, wine, still and flat water, and pop.

On the opposite side is the hot food station. I was here for breakfast, so the food selection included baked beans, roasted potatoes, bacon, scrambled eggs and a baked curd cheese pancake, along with a variety of cereals and yogurt.

Cold Cuts and Cheese
The lounge offered a decent self-serve selection of spirits and wines, with bottled beer in the fridge, plus pop and juices. A coffee machine also prepared a variety of caffeinated beverages if you needed a caffeine fix before your flight.

Austrian Airlines Business Class Lounge Vienna – Takeaway
Being at Austrian Airlines’ main hub, this was their satellite lounge, as I later discovered. The lounge had comfortable chairs with great views, good food, and a solid drink selection for a smaller satellite lounge. Being steps away from my original departure gate was an added bonus.
One minor note: as I walked toward the G Gates to my newly assigned departure gate, I came across what appeared to be the main Austrian Airlines lounge at the airport. I went in for a quick peek, and this lounge was about five times the size of the smaller satellite lounge near the D Gates. The main food options were on par with the satellite lounge, but there were more options available.
If you’re flying to the USA from Vienna, this small Austrian Airlines Lounge near Gate D29 is a nice, quiet oasis before your flight, though it could use a few more amenities.
I will give this lounge a 7/10, given that it is more of a satellite lounge. I appreciate Austrian Airlines having this smaller lounge near the D Gates to accommodate passengers flying to the USA, rather than having passengers trek all the way to the G Gates to use their main lounge.
For passengers departing from the D Gates at Vienna Airport, having a smaller lounge nearby is certainly convenient, and I appreciated being able to relax there before my flight.
Gute Reise! ✈️
