Marriott Bonvoy recently dropped its latest promotion to buy Marriott points with up to a 40% bonus when buying 2000 points or more. Members can purchase a maximum of 150,000 points (annual limit) through this promotion, which yields 210,000 points with the 40% bonus. The latest points purchase promotion is available until July 16, 2025.

The 40% bonus translates to 0.89 cents (US) per point, which is not the lowest price point we have seen; however, it is good for a top-up toward a specific redemption. Canadian residents will also pay an additional HST/QST amount based on the province.

With an increased annual purchase limit of 150,000, you can buy 210,000 points for $1875;

I value Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.8 cents apiece, so purchasing at 0.89 CPP should be restricted to specific redemptions only. A couple of reminders to add value to your Bonvoy Points;

  • Marriott Bonvoy allows Points Advance Booking (up to 5), but members must have the required points in their accounts 14 days before check-in.
  • Outside of direct hotel bookings on points, Bonvoy points also convert to several airline miles at a 3:1 ratio and add a 5k bonus on every 60,000 points converted. Essentially, every 60k Bonvoy points yields 25k airline miles.
  • If you buy Marriott points through this promotion, note that the transaction is processed through points.com and will not be a hotel/travel transaction. It’s best to use a credit card that gives you a good return on daily spending.
  • A better way to keep your Bonvoy balance healthy is to use co-branded credit cards, which offer strong returns on daily spending categories. PMB recommends the following Canadian cards;
