Location and Entrance
For travellers departing from Riga International Airport (RIX), the good news is that there is only one lounge to consider, the Primeclass Business Lounge. While that may sound limiting, the lounge does a commendable job of serving the airport’s premium passengers and lounge members.

Way to Primeclass lounge
I gained access through a Business Class ticket on LOT Polish Airlines, but there are several other ways to enter. The lounge participates in multiple access programs, including Priority Pass, DragonPass, the Primeclass Lounge Program, and access is also available to eligible American Express Platinum Cardholders.
The lounge is conveniently located on the third floor above Gate B1. Access is straightforward, with both stairs and an elevator leading directly up to the lounge entrance.

Primeclass Business Lounge Access

Primeclass Business Lounge – Reception
One of the often-overlooked benefits of flying Business Class through Riga is access to the airport’s priority security lane. During my visit, the standard security line was quite lengthy, so being able to bypass the queue saved a considerable amount of time and made the airport experience significantly smoother.
Upon arrival at the lounge, guests are greeted at the reception desk, where lounge access is verified before entry to the main space.
Lounge Layout
The Primeclass Business Lounge is thoughtfully designed and offers a surprising amount of space considering the relatively modest size of Riga International Airport.
Immediately to the left of the reception desk sits a detailed Turkish Airlines model aircraft display, a nice touch for aviation enthusiasts. Behind the model aircraft are a series of electronic lockers where guests can securely store their belongings while enjoying the lounge. Nearby is a private meeting room that can be reserved for business purposes, making the lounge useful for both leisure and corporate travellers.

Turning left from the reception and continuing into the lounge brings you to the food and beverage area. The bar occupies the far-left corner of the space, while the main buffet area sits adjacent to it. Beyond the dining area is the lounge’s primary seating section.
This area features a comfortable mix of sofas upholstered in light blue and turquoise tones, complemented by light wood tables that create a bright and inviting atmosphere. Large windows along one side of the lounge offer views of aircraft parked at the gates, while portions of the runway can also be seen. Although the runway views are somewhat obstructed, aviation enthusiasts will still appreciate being able to watch departures and arrivals while relaxing.

The airport’s dominant carrier is airBaltic, and many of the aircraft visible from the lounge belong to the airline. With airBaltic recently joining the Aeroplan partner network, seeing their operation up close added an extra layer of interest to the experience.

One of the more unique features of the lounge is located at the far end opposite the bar. Here, guests will find four private suites. According to the lounge staff, these suites can be reserved by passengers with layovers of three hours or longer. Travellers requiring overnight accommodations can also arrange longer stays by contacting the lounge in advance.
Returning to the reception desk and heading in the opposite direction reveals an entirely separate seating area. This section offers additional grey armchairs and wooden seating options, ensuring that passengers can usually find a quiet corner regardless of the lounge’s occupancy.
Further into this section is a dedicated children’s playroom, making the lounge particularly appealing for families travelling with younger children. Adjacent to the play area is a baby changing station, while nearby are the men’s, women’s, and accessible washrooms, as well as a dedicated shower facility.

Across from the washrooms, a large window overlooks the terminal building itself, offering a different perspective of airport operations.
Throughout the lounge, televisions display programming on mute, while flight information screens keep passengers updated on departures and gate changes. Notably, no flight announcements are made inside the lounge, creating a quieter and more relaxing atmosphere.
What surprised me most was how uncrowded the lounge was during my visit. Despite the variety of access methods available, occupancy was well below 50 percent, leaving plenty of seating and creating a calm environment throughout my stay.

Lounge F&B
The food and beverage offering at Primeclass Business Lounge exceeded my expectations for an airport of this size.
The hot food selection during my visit included chicken soup and a particularly memorable cream of eggplant soup that turned out to be one of the highlights of the meal. Additional hot items included pasta, meatballs, and mixed vegetables, providing enough substance for travellers looking for a proper meal before their flight.

Hot food options
Cold options consisted of a fresh salad station and fruit selections. For lighter snacking, the lounge also offered rice cakes, pretzels, cookies, and nacho chips.
Beverage options were equally comprehensive. Refrigerators stocked bottled water and a variety of juices, while a self-serve coffee machine prepared multiple espresso-based and caffeinated beverages.

Coffee station

Bar/Beer options
One feature that immediately caught my attention was a dedicated ice cream freezer located near the bar. Ice cream is not something I encounter often in airport lounges, and the freezer contained a surprisingly good variety of choices. It quickly became one of my favourite touches in the lounge, and I would highly recommend grabbing one before heading to your gate.

The bar itself offered complimentary alcoholic beverages, including draft beer, ciders, wines, and a respectable selection of both local and internationally recognized spirits. I always appreciate lounges that include alcoholic beverages without additional charges, and Primeclass delivers well on that front.
Takeaway
The Primeclass Business Lounge succeeds by focusing on comfort, functionality, and variety rather than attempting to be overly luxurious.
The spacious layout provides numerous seating options, while the large windows overlooking the apron and runway add an element of entertainment for aviation enthusiasts. Any lounge that allows me to watch aircraft movements while enjoying a drink immediately earns bonus points.
The lounge’s family-friendly design deserves particular recognition. Between the dedicated children’s playroom, baby changing facilities, shower room, and abundance of seating, it is exceptionally well-equipped for travellers with young children. Families passing through Riga will likely find this one of the more accommodating airport lounges in Europe.
The food selection during my visit was varied enough to serve as either a substantial snack or a light meal, and the complimentary bar service added further value. Small details, such as the electronic lockers, private suites for longer layovers, and the ice cream freezer, helped the lounge stand out from many similarly sized airport lounges.
Whether you’re flying Business Class or accessing the lounge through Priority Pass, DragonPass, American Express Platinum, or another eligible program, the Primeclass Business Lounge is well worth a visit before departing Riga.
For a relatively small airport lounge, it delivers an experience that is comfortable, practical, and enjoyable. Combined with the relaxed atmosphere and low crowd levels during my visit, it earns a strong 8/10 and serves as an excellent final stop before leaving Latvia.
