Porter Airlines, BMO, and Mastercard have announced a new partnership to enhance travel rewards for Canadians. The collaboration will introduce a new BMO VIPorter Mastercard suite, set to launch in spring 2025. The new suite of cards will offer additional travel benefits and an accelerated way to earn VIPorter points through everyday purchases.

With Porter’s expanding network and commitment to delivering an elevated economy experience, this new credit card program aligns with its approach to airline loyalty. The VIPorter program is designed to reward frequent travellers efficiently by allowing them to earn valuable travel benefits with fewer flights and lower annual spending. The upcoming credit card suite will complement the program by providing more opportunities to earn and redeem VIPorter points for flights and other travel-related expenses.

As part of the VIPorter program, cardholders will build points quickly for redemption across Porter’s growing North American network. Additionally, the program will introduce redemption options with Porter’s expanding list of global airline partners.

Key features of the VIPorter loyalty program include:

  • Members receive 100% of eligible points for every flight purchased, including Basic economy fares (excluding taxes and fees). This makes VIPorter the only airline loyalty program in Canada that offers full value for every dollar spent on flights.
  • Accelerated earning rates and additional travel benefits for VIPorter Avid Travellers.
  • Points can be redeemed for any seat across Porter’s network, with points-only and cash-plus-points redemption options. There are no blackout dates.
  • Confirmed PorterReserve flight certificates are available starting at $3,000 in annual spend.
  • A “Head Start” feature allows members to carry over up to $3,000 in Qualifying Spend into the following year, making it easier to maintain and advance Avid Traveller benefits.

A pre-registration waitlist is now open for VIPorter members ahead of the official launch. When new cards launch, eligible waitlist applicants could enjoy an extra 10,000 VIPorter points and a great welcome bonus offer. Additional details on the credit card features will be released closer to the launch date – Spring 2025.
